Red face Valet Switch Install

Installed my Valet switch from PDR this weekend. Here is a warning for everyone wanting one:

WAIT UNTIL AFTER YOU GET INJECTORS BEFORE INSTALLING ONE!

With the switch off, my truck feels worse than stock, which is not bad for the clutch, but after driving with a #8 for about 8 months, it is terrible .

Anyway, How do you get more power while in valet mode?

Injectors, DV's.

Anything else?

Thanks,
Chris

I thought valet mode was supposed to kill the power.

It does.

With the switch on; It is the same as it has been for the past 8 months.
With the switch off; No air gets to the pump, and power is reduced, DRASTICALLY.

It is pretty cool though, Get one of your buddies in the truck and drive in valet mode, then tell them "Hey, flip that switch when I shift" Then lay into it. .

They think it's Nitros or something!

Nothing but #2 for me, maybe some water down the road.

I just did a Reno to Sacramento & back this weekend, all Valet switch. That's over the Sierras, 7200' elevation, all the way down to 100' elevation. Well ... flipped in on 3 times, only to test boost & get on 2 on-ramps.

Anyway, sure makes a big difference, huh? Neat though ... just try & make it smoke.

I'm gonna run a tank all around town / commute & see what the mileage does. The trip over the Sierras & back netted 20mpg w/plenty of power, even up the steepest hills.

I got mine from Piers, and it took two of is about an hour and a half. He wired while I did the under hood work. The hardest part is loosening and tightening the fitting on the intake manifold, pretty tight space. The instructions are pretty good but leave out a few things.

Bottom line is, IF I CAN DOI IT, ALMOST ANYONE CAN!

Chris

BTW, It might have gone faster if there hadn't been about 4 high shcool girls running around the shop distracting us , (my little brother was working on his truck and had all his friend there.)

Mine looses 200 HP in Valet.

OK, apparently we are confused on ON and OFF.

My ON means: Boost is passing through the valve and to the pump.
My OFF means: Valve is closed, NO boost going to pump.

I hope this clears up the confusion,(I'm tired of getting "funny looks and responses)

Thanks Guys,
Chris

You are correct, pump is at no boost fuel so what ever it's set at with no boost is all you get, now add injectors and/or DV's and you gain power from there.

Could one of you please explain to me just exactly what this valet switch is? I don't understand what it is that it does and why?
