Is a V10 4wd frame the same as a diesel 4wd frame?

Is a V10 4wd frame the same as a diesel 4wd frame?

I'm looking into changing my slightly bent frame for another one.

I'm currently looking into getting a v10 2500 4wd frame and wanted to know if all the diesel parts will bolt up?

This is going to be an interesting thread. I believe all the 2500/3500 4X4 frames are the same, much too expensive to build too many different frames.
And with all the blown/worn out V-10's around, should be a good way to get a new truck, to replace a high mileage truck, and simply swap in the Cummins.
I also wonder if the trans, and rest of the driveline is the same.

Depending on how bad yours is bent, you can get it straightened for a few hundred dollars (or more depending on severity). Call around to body shops in the area and they should be able to direct you to a good frame shop.

While you have the truck, I'd recommend beefing up the new/straightened frame with strategically placed boxed sections.

Boxing in the C-channel helps with strength a bunch, even if you only use eighth inch plate.

I don't know about the v10s but my buddies 97 360 gasser 3/4 ton has allot of differences to the frame so...... I would be looking very closely before starting. I also agree with the others about pulling yours straight being a easier/cheaper option

If it's a few hundred dollars or more to straighten the frame, then the V10 frame is the cheaper option for me.

I'd really like to know for sure before I drive up to get it. Maybe I could drive up to a dodge dealer and check a used one out???

I think the front springs might be differant, but i believe the frame itself is the same(except where option specific items mount/engine mounts). I dont see how swapping all that over is cheaper than a couple hundred to try to straighten the frame.

The consensus so far is that the frames are the same.

Let's just say my frame is junk, so this thread can concentrate on the frame question.

"Ratsun" What are the differences in the 360 gasser frame you are referring. Can you elaborate more?

I've know a friend who corrected a bent frame with a dozer, dump truck and some chains. he went at it real slow, 1/2 inch at at time, then release, 1/2 inch release.

he ended up getting paid for the totaled truck through the insurance company. he bought it back for peanuts, straitened the frame and put her on the road with a salvage title. he still drives it today.

I think the procedure was all legal considering he may not have had the luck with the frame. many years of tinkering and working with heavy equipment.

I've straightened many unibody cars this way. No need for a frame rack when you have a CAT backhoe, plenty of chains, and a nice roomy trailer to secure it down.

Shouldn't be a big deal to strip these trucks down and swap everything.
