i was seeing if anybody out there has been using 50% motor oil and 50% of diesel in there 1st gens. I been using it in my tractor,but i filter the oil twice before i do.i like to know how to make a filter machine so i can do it alot.thanks

I just drain the WMO carefully to minimize grit getting into the oil, then let it settle for the weeks or months before I make up my batch , ... decant the container leaving maybe 10% bottom to discard, then lace it with methyl to scavenge any water content. I also add 2cycle oil and any diesel additive snake oil I have around. I use up to 5gal US on a fill so my proportion of WMO would be up to 1/3. The old Cummins runs the same whatever I do, but I feel I'm helping it a bit and saving some $$$

I dont think you should mix it 50/50 to much smoke maybe 20/80 at most.

The very first time you explode your injection pump or junk your injectors you will slap yourself in the butt. Yes, it will save some money now, but may cost more in the end. Put it to good use, spray it on the frame to keep the rust down.

Go to our the search section and look up WMO, and/or waste motor oil,, and first generation and also the section on fuels. Also go on Google and do the same thing. You will find a lot of information both pro and con. The biggest thing I have come up with is filter, filter, filter. Good luck, Mike.

I wish I would have kept the owners manual from my 93 4x4. It said up to 5% of filtered WMO is fine for the truck.

look up dtr member rebal, has about 600k on his first gen and i believe he has been running wmo/dino since day 1.

Cummins use to have a system that drew oil straight out of the motor pumped it into the fuel tank and replaced it with fresh oil from a reserve that the mechanic filled at service.

Most i hear say they run it 50/50, have heard of as high as 80%

How do you filter/prep your oil?

I let my WMO sit for at least 2 weeks before I "skim the top" for use. While sitting it sits in a drum that I dropped a speaker magnet into. ( I dont know if the speaker magnet ahs collected much of anything but it makes me feel better)

Anyhow, after it sits I suck the oil out of the drum with a vacuum pump and run it through - COFFEE Filters - yes, coffee filters. Some guys i know run it through paint filters from the sherwin wiliams store....I use a coffee filter and let it drip thru two series of the filters into another drum.

I know guys that dont filter it at all...they will drain theyre oil pan and dump it straight into the tank.

Now, I PERSONALLY have never had a prob with smoke, injector, pump, or filter issues. Ive Heard WMO eats injectors.....I havent experienced this on my P-pump 12 Valve. I pulled the injectors out my 91 when I bought it so theyre new and It runs like a champ on WMO.

I haven't been filtering my WMO, based on my faith in the detergent/dispersants in modern oil and the oil filters on our engines. If I introduce any grit in the draining process I figure the settling will let it drop out. Also I'm not using great volumes compared with the amount of retail fuel going in the tank. I get my WMO from two 4-banger cars, a GoldWing bike and of course my truck, so at once a year changes (all are on synthetic oil) it's about six gallons added over 10k miles of truck driving. I'd like to say I spaced out my WMO over a long span, but in fact I use it up over just a few fill-ups.

I have dumped the oil straight from the engine into the tank, but have only done a quart or two at a time. In my pointed little head, I can't see how anything that will dammage the injector pump, injectors or engine will get through the fuel filter if it is doing it's job. If I didn't heat my shop with a hungry oil burner (2000 gallons a year), I'd run a lot more WMO through the Cummins.

I won't burn synthetic oils.....hear dbad things about doing that.

ppiggppenn - not knocking you at all sir , pull one of your injectors and tell us what it looks like..Ive seen some pics of COKED up injectors supposedly from burning synthetic oil. I wonder if its true.
