Upgrading to SPORT headlights

What does this entail on a 2000 2500 CTD?

I know the later year sports had 2 bulb headlights and from what I have heard this is a worthwhile upgrade.

What would I need? what is the wiring like? What other mods are required?

You will need a complete set of sport headlights with corners. The corner lights from a non sport will not fit on the sport headlights. If you wire your truck like mine, you will need 4 relays, 2 fuse holders and 4 connectors for the bulbs. I built a relay bank for each side of the truck and hooked them up to the battery behind each light. If you look at my photo gallery there is a wiring diagram that I drew up for the conversion on my 01. I can't say for sure if the wire colors are the same between our years. The way I have mine wired is when the low beams are on the low beam filament on all 4 bulbs lights. When the high beams are on the 4 high filaments and the 4 low filaments light. So far I haven't had any problems with being bright-ed or melting. You don't need to modify the sheet metal at all unlike the older trucks. All I can say is that the difference is night and day (pun intended).

slowerthanu,

You can order the wiring harness from Suvlights.com under the headlight wire harness tab you will find one for the Dodge conversions. It will allow all 4 lights to be lit at once. According to my neighbor who worked for jpl, after he inspected the harness I bought, it is a quality unit, worth the $ or you can make your own. I did have to drop, but not remove my bumper for the removal of the oem and install of the new lights. Simple upgrade, but very well worth the time.
