its a 48re on the third gen dodges and what i would do for 400 horse or less is a performance valve body and torque converter. thats all you will need. talk to dave goerend at goerend transmissions. 563-778-2719

you know you like the abuse.

I agree with Lotero. He has had killer luck with that goerend we put in his ride. Shifts sweet and is holding up to the abuse.

Not all early third gens came with the 48re. The 250 hp and cali trucks came with the 47re trans. If you got the HO (305 hp) it would come with the 48re.

You can swap some parts out with the 48re parts. This will make the internals stronger

48REs are beefier than 47s...

be careful throwing a valve body/shift kit/TC in a tired tranny - it just might push it over the edge!

Sounds like your first "upgrade" should be a fluid AND filter change.

I was trying to figure out which tranny my '03 had. it is the SO 250hp, but it was built after a certain build date, so it had the 48 in it. I called the delear and they confirmed it. So i would triple triple check that you have the 47re in their first. I think the build date was something like anything after 01/03 (according to the posts I read here. I could be wrong though).
