Upgraded steering
Well, took my '06 to the dealer for the first time to have the ball joints replaced and when I picked it up they had put on the new style "upgraded steering" as well...
The old style is inverted Y and this is an inverted T design with beefier links and TREs.
Was just wondering when they changed the steering design and why? Anyone know?

I think Dodge realized that something was up with all these Death Wobbles people are reporting, so the redesigned some of the steering components. It looks good, I’m glad they hooked you up.

I was told it was to correct death wobble. Mine didn't have any yet it was in for something else and the TREs were loose. My fathers '04 had DW real bad. This upgrade made his truck drive awesome.

Mine was covered under warranty.
After towing about 500 miles this weekend with it I'd say it drives great(not that it didn't drive good before). It used to have a slight amount of bump steer and that seems to be gone, also having the whole front end feeling new is nice.

no tsb that I know of, but if you go to the dealer and tell them you have "death wobble" (they often laugh at that term, but tell them you have a violent shake or shimmy in the front end at high speed), they will replace it with the new unit if still under warranty. Worked for two people I know, I am out of warranty so I will have to pay for mine.

i dont have the death wobble yet. my truck has 30k on it. and i would like to get it replaced under the warranty, i take it that this is not a recall? how should i go about trying to get this done? because if they drive my truck they are going to see that nothing is really wrong. yet, that is.

Just tell them it only happens on occasion or on rough terrain. They don't have to duplicate the DW to replace the parts for it. I haven't had a single issue out of my front suspension yet but, at 33000 miles, i think i am going to head over to my dealer later this week and complain of Death Wobble. I like the looks of this new setup. I want it...lol
