Upgrade suggestions

I have a 2006 2500 Mega Cab 2 wheel drive. I want to make some upgrades, looking at adding a cold air intake, intake manifold and 4 inch exhaust. Do any of you have any suggestions on what brands to buy.

I was thinking about an AFE ProGuard 7 intake, Banks Monster exhaust and Banks High-Ram intake manifold. Do you have any pros/cons to buying these versus other brands or suggestions for brands to look into.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

You already have a 4" exhaust, or are you looking for muffler suggestions??

I noticed on some websites and in diesel magazines that there were exhaust systems for 06 Dodges. What I was looking at were single turbo backs and dual turbo backs.

Since posting my original message, I have looked at the Silverline 409 Single and Dual backs, MBRP turbo backs, and the Banks Monster.

Maybe you can clarify this for me.

Tigger, I wouldn't go with a 4" exhaust because you already have that size stock. If you are looking for a good sound, just cut the muffler off and run a straight pipe in its place. I know a few guys with Banks hi-ram and they told me that they did not notice any difference after installing it. You could go with an AFE intake setup, but some will tell you that they installed a BHAF filter from NAPA and a torque tube from AFE. The cost is $300 for the AFE vs. about $150 for the BHAF setup. Thats my $.02. Good luck with your truck.

If you do go with an exhaust, you can get a motoblue (re badged flo pro) pretty cheap, and it's a nice sounding system. Save the money on a fancy intake and intake manifold. Get a drop in nanofiber filter from amsoil (no oil) and you'll have saved enough money to get a smarty or some gauges! I went thru 3 or 4 exhaust systems before I ended up with the motoblue and am finally happy. I have the AFE Stage 2, and it's a pain to keep clean. Also, no hassles with the drop in when you go to the dealer.

i would lurk some more before you do too much. some things are $$ and have no gain, like the intake, because you don't have a full set of mods to use them.

on mine, i have a DIY cranksensor, holes in bottom of stock air box,
and a boost fooler.

it's Ok.

the Mega's have a 2nd muffler,
so you have a Cat, big muffler, little muffler.

most folks say a muffler delete pipe will sound fine in there, not too loud.

thats:
$50 - muff delete
free - diy sensor
free - air holes
$75 - boost fooler

welcome!
