Well Lucky me

It was a bad injector. They found the problem right away and fixed it pretty quick...3 days. Got the truck back and is running good....for stock.

Bully Dog DL is going back this week and I will be happy with the power of an SO wit da Six Gun / w loader. The Bank's box has always given me enough power to tow my 5`er up any hill at great speeds!

Not really interested in hearing from the guys that are going to rip on me for making DC pay for it...cuz the way I see it. The boxes I had in there did the same thing to all 6 injectors...why did only 1 fail???? Cuz it was defective!!!!

Yes the one was obviously defective and its not the first injector failure on a 3rd gen. Plus your not the only one who has made DC pay for aftermarket warranty work. Like I stated above, if your banks box caused it.

No one is gonna rip on you for getting DC to pay for a defective part, BUT if you damage your truck by installing "performance" parts or stupidity you should pay for it!!

Good to hear about your truck. I have to ask this, did the dealer check for or ask if had a down loader or box? Just curious to see if they really could tell if you had either by using the scan tool. You are exactly right that the dealer should have paid for the repair.

Didn't say anthing about the Downloader...but did question some Velcrow (spelling) I had on my truck. He mentioned it once, didn't want an answer, just wanted me to know that he knows.

I'm wondering where we cross the line in this warranty/mod war? If the part is defective prior to the addition of go fast parts, why is it now the owners responsibility to have to pay for the fix? Sure, adding a box might have caused the parts to grenade but it still would have in the first place, it just speed up the process. The one thing I have noticed since getting my Ram and switching to these Dodge/Cummins forums is the fighting about this warranty issue. All these guys harp about being "your own warranty station" (what the heck is that?) but I haven't heard any one harping about all the guys looking for a fix for the vibration problem.

I agree PHLoop. Also good to hear your truck is ok Carnage. DC makes enough money anyway. No one cares about customer service anymore, and thats why I pull my box everytime. Who Cares if we **** the dealer off, or DC. Were the ones who buy these trucks and run them. Maybe they should read these forums.

The reason why people get upset is because DC won't loose money on the warranty work, they just pass it on to the customer. So if there are a zillion people bolting on boxes and blowing up turbos then the entire consumer base gets to pay for it.

I don't believe that installing a box should void your warranty, but many people refuse to use common sense. If you put on a box and spool the turbo up to 40psi then blow it up, it's not DC's issue, it's your own.

In this case I think DC was responsible for the cost because an injector simply opens and closes and shouldn't fail based on the frequency of the injection events.

This "passing it on to the customer" B.S. goes back to the insurance companies and helmet laws discussion we had a while back. Saying DC is uping the price of their vehicles because of warranty work is like saying if we weren't in Iraq we would be spending that $500 billion on education it just isn't true. They are pricing these trucks with enough markup to cover themselves when something happens! These people have been selling trucks and cars for a year or two I'm guessing they don't get caught with their pants down to often!

good for you. the only thing I would have cautioned you about is stacking two timing devices -- basically the Banks box was advancing timing beyond what the bullydog dialed up. you don't want to go there. ever. not without understanding what the combo will actually do, that is.

as for the injector problem, well, good for you. the Dealer does have an argument, but I'm glad they didn't use it. if you run high pressures, it does stress the injectors more. yea, one failed because it was weaker than the others -- probably just accelerated a failure that would have occured without the box on there. You're lucky the dealer didn't escalate this up to STAR and get all kinds of attention. You would have had an ugly contest on your hands.

Glad to hear it wasn't a catastrophic failure.

But it'll give ya something to remember next time you hammer that throttle I'll bet.
