Update Connecticut truck (Hart. CL)

For those following the last thread, the nice Connecticut truck reappeared. Much to my dismay it is a mess though. See thread "Connecticut truck" if you are lost. Any way, as fair warning to anyone interested, I invested a lot of time and money for a joke. Bad radiator that leaked in my face as I opened the hood, and a horrendous oil leak in the area of the oil filt that had 2"thick grime a ways back on the frame. Filter wasn't loose. Had a plow that was recently torched off the frame,Bad cab mounts, soaked flooring, good frame, roof rust bad. It looks great in pics but not worth more than 4 grand. Daily beater yes, resto project maybe if you have a nice cab and time and money. I am realistic, it is another case of rusting from inside out. The connecticut winters didn't harm it, the buildup of mud and constant wet carpet is the culprit. It looked to be a farmer truck as after cleanup it is still dirty in, under and in the engine( muddy/ dusty). Not trying to demean anyone but this is a help to fellow buyers in the New England/Tri state area, as the seller didn't tell me these issues. It has its good points but is far gone in areas and real deceptive based on pics/ description. A real shame for the miles and setup, not worth $6900 though and he thinks he hit the jackpot. PM me for more details if you were interested. I brought cash and walked. I am not burned or trying to persuade away others, just a heads up.

Most of the older plow trucks suffer an overdose of road salt. I scrapped one about a year ago. The crossmember holding up the front of the fuel tank was rusted in half.

Farm trucks suffer from being driven in areas laden with manure. Manure is in some cases more corrosive than salt. In this situation the manure laden soil when wet attaches itself in the form of sludge that has a tendency to cling onto the under carriage. This prolongs the corrosive action because unlike road salt, that gets washed away on the highway when later driven in the rain, the manure mix continues to collect and bond. If the truck goes back out on a highway on a rainy day is can get washed off but most farm trucks are rarely driven off the farm.
