Unplanned Buildup
Recently had the motor in my 05 call it quits (explained in "good engine shop in calgary?"), naturally its when I have minimal amounts of money. Of course I still plan on spending something extra inside it since Im there anyway. I was thinking head and main studs from ARP and an H.D. "Big Stick" cam, probably regrind as its 100 bucks difference and they should both stand up the same. Anybody have an opinion on heavy duty rod bolts? I dont know if I ever plan on getting to the point of twin turbos as this is still my daily driver and I want to keep it reasonable. At most Im thinking 90hp sticks in the future. Don't know what rear wheel power that will make but you get the idea of what Im eventually after.
Ive been debating trading my head for a ported and possibly sprung one but can't seem to find anything online. Any suggestions? Good experiences?
Long story short in my shoes what would you be buying and were do you suggest I buy it. (Im in western canada)
Pretty broad question, but thanks for the time.

very good to know. If I do go for the cam route I think I will spend the extra couple bucks for the new one. Has anyone had any experience cam'ing? I dont know if it will effect how well the truck starts and runs, what it will do for fuel economy, if it will work well with stock valves, or even what brand to go with. I can't really find a shop that isnt just trying to push their product.

I've heard both sides on the cam in a diesel deal. Honestly I don't think its going to make much of a difference until you get in the higher hp range, and like said above, for what you're wanting to do, there's really no reason for any internal work

again, thank you. I beleive I will just leave it alone then. Was curious about it, my old harley responds to different cams like i couldnt beleive, was wondering if a quick 500 bucks could do the same for my truck. Thanks for the info guys, helped me out alot.
