Exclamation The unheard of, unsolvable problem....bring on the experts!!!

This problem has stumped many many people so we are seeking the help of the hardcore enthusiasts that know VE pumps very well. So my buddy just installed his 3200 gov. spring and when he got everything put back together, the throttle worked backwards…..there is no lever attached its just the stud sticking up so it has nothing to do with indexing. When u turn the shaft to idle it revs up, but not wide open and when u hold it wide open it idles low and rough. The pump has been apart and put back together 10 different times by 10 different people and the problem remains the same. Everything inside the pump is intact and in the correct location and installation has been followed exactly by all write ups and diagrams we could find……so what is it?

on the shaft end inside the pump the piece that the spring is hooked too is stuck on the wrong side as you turn the shaft its letting pressure off. the spring and at idle it has tension on it,180* off on the index

Well, you state ten people worked with it.
That is nine too many!

I would say after working on only two of those pumps, the shaft is *180 degrees out! Take the lickage off, rotate it 180 and think about how it works.
you are going to struggle to get the idle right if they didn't 'index' the shaft, and they didn't, but it is fixable.

Now, what is wrong with wide open????!!!!

theres nothing to be afraid of besides keeping the top-hat assembly together when you remove/install the springs. i have had mine apart about 5 times and have had no bad luck. its a real easy job once youve done it a time or 2.

maybe a stupid question but where did you get the 366 spring? ive read about companys selling knock-off springs and then people have trouble with them. im not sure if its from the length of the knock-off springs or the tension on them though.
