ULSD and Plugged filters

Anyone out there getting plugged fuel filters more often now that the switch to ULSD has happened. I'm about to have to put a second filter on in only 3 weeks.

On another thread there was a post stating that ULSD had some solvent properties and would clean out your tank/lines. I've heard of this with BIO but not ULSD but maybe....

Any thoughts/experience? I'm asking the first genners cause we're the ones with the older trucks and a greater chance of crud in the tanks/lines.

No issues here, I have also for the last 16K miles have been running 10%-70% WVO in the tank with the diesel.

I'll let you know. I just put the first tank of the ULSD in the truck yesterday. Of course with the way I have driven it lately, it will take a month before I fill it again...

The pressure gauge is in the cab. The current setup is a little different than most would run due to the secondary fuel system.

Semi on topic, I have read howes lubricator has a higher sulfur concentration than power service. The new bottles have warning labels for those new low-fat diesel owners. I been running it 1 oz per 2 gallon since the low-fat diesel was forced on me. My fuel pressure guage has been wierd since the switch, my filter was new in august or 4000 miles back.

I had to mod the fuel sending unit this summer before the county fair pulls. The tank on mine was spotless inside after 238,000 miles of use. It had never been out. I suppose what you find in the tank depends on where you buy the fuel, and where it was before that.

I'm with Wanna on this one. I've been running ULSD for over a month now and I cannot relate any problems. My fuel pressure on the stock pump is 5psi at idle and about 3psi WOT. The filter was changed in the spring........I think

ULSD was in the pipelines in many places around the end of summer. There may have been some time lag between deliveries and updating the pump documentation. IIRC, the mandatory cutover date was 1 October.

If my memories serve me correctly, that sounds about right. That is when the warning sign on the pump changed to "This fuel is approved for all 2007 and earlier diesels engines". Wish they could bump up the energy and mileage or at least lower the price. I feel like I being ripped off every time I fill up .
