u joints

Has anyone had any luck with other than stock u-joints? I have replaced both axle joints and now my rear driveshaft joints are starting to give out. Of course this is due to plenty of 4x4 runs on the track i would think.

DODGE REPLACED THE ONES ONE MY FRONT DRIVESHAFT WITH NAPCO'S INSTED OF MOPAR'S AND THEY SEEM TO BE HOLDING OUT SO FAR. JUST HAD THE FRONT AXLE DONE TOO BUT MOPAR IS THE ONLY ONE WHO MAKES REPLACEMENTS FOR THOSE NOW.

BY THE WAY HOW MANY MILES U GOT ON YOUR TRUCK?

Don't go cheap on u-joints. I always use the premium Spicer non-greasable joints. They have a wonderful seal that keeps everything out, and I don't think anything else lasts nearly as long. They are the ones that came with our 2nd gen trucks from factory, and there are many around with over 300k miles on them. I don't know what the 3rd gen trucks came with, but probably the same.

Here's a question for those in the know. My carrier bearing has had it and I was going to replace the u-joints while I was at it with Spicer greasable joints. I know the greasable joints are a little weaker due to the hollow grease channel inside. Do you think going with greasable joints would be a mistake? I drive pretty hard and would sure hate to snap one at the drag strip. I just don't know how "tuff" the greasable joints are. Tuff enough? I guess sticking with non-greasable wouldn't bother me that much if I had to, but it would be nice not to have to replace them again.

the napco's are suposedly made by spicer. I've had spicers in all my other truck and have had excelent luck with them.

AK RAM- I have had much better luck with the non-greasable joints. The seal on those is much better than the greasable ones for keeping gunk out. I haven't seen any of the greasable ones break on these trucks, but I am used to working on ranch trucks etc., and of course one sees completely different use at the drag strip. Just my 2 cents.

There is nothing wrong with a high quality greaseable joint if you have the 1480 joints that I do. If you run the 1350's (I think all the 3-piece driveshafts have these) then go with a "Brute Force" non-greasable.

my front driveshafts went out at 68,000 and my front axle's went out at about 72,000 (last friday)

Anybody know if Tom Woods? makes u-joints to fit our trucks. Lifetime warranty with unlimited H.P. and Torque.
