We were offered Redline on a Saturday night in Oct. If we contact them soon we might still be able to get it.

Let me know

I'd be for Ardmore probably... Jetta may make it to Houston, but not the truck... That's just a long drive for a single day event, especially with long staging lane lines...

Whenever there are projects on the list maybe cooler weather or something the shop is ready...

A little off topic, but since we have a thread open...............

Thanks to Tyler and Justin (Elgin), my Jammer 3's are installed. The first thing I noticed was the added power :), and the second thing was that a 220k mile, stock clutch tends to slip. :( Even with the Smarty on the "Economy" setting, I can make it slip. That said, they do add quiet a bit of zip and the smoke cleans up quickly. I can make them smoke, but it's not hard to control. No doubt that by Bryan popping and calibrating them, it made a lot of difference. I was hoping they would improve mileage over the old 275's, but gage movement so far does not indicate that will be the case. Boots had the old 275's cleaned and put them in his truck Friday night. He said he could tell a difference with his XZT+ off and a big difference with it on.

Since a new clutch is in the distant future, I guess it will be a while before I get to really enjoy them. [laugh]

Man....yalls Ike dropped a TON of rain on us yesterday....my pond flooded and basement had about 1" of water in it......about 5" in 7 hrs.......that was wild......

RowJ
09-15-2008, 09:08 AM
Sorry to hear it. South TX got it bad but around here...just a little rain (3" in 24 hrs) and some 40 mph wind. Ike warnings got me motivated to dig out my drainage ditch (where water backs up into my driveway and over my lawn........ so was actually good to me.

Just sat around all Saturday and nursed my back (from digging the ditch) and waited for what never hit us.
Even got PITA Weld wheels rotated and Drive shaft U joints greased on Sunday! Dan, those greasable u-joints we installed are thirsty little suckers, but seem to be holding up well. Don't know how factory no grease, u-joints last as long as they do??

How did everyone else fair from IKE?

This keeps getting better......

MO-DOT just reported to us that they are closing the bottom road bridge between here and Washington, MO at midnight tonight. SO....what that translates into is Dan's 20 min drive into work just turned into 1.5 hrs.......Thanks IKE!

I'm disappointed that DHRA shortened the HRP Diesel National event by a day... not sure they'll be around much longer. We're still waiting to find out what will happen now in the IKE aftermath - lot of electricity needs to be restored, and I read 2-3 weeks for some parts of Houston.[eyecrazy]

Micah - and everyone else that hasn't been - you will love Ardmore! Full quarter with a decent shutdown, very laid-back friendly track, easy to make back to back passes during test & tune, plenty of fast cars show up from N. Tx & OK... hardly any trucks though - but we can change that!

When I was talking to Ron with NADM last week at Alvarado, I tried to get him to visit Ardmore and incorporate them into their program.

For everyone concerned about the recent shake-up on Wall Street:

MikeyB called me yesterday. His power is still out and they have no idea how much longer. He lives in Tomball.

He had very minor damage to the exterior of his house but now has cracks in some of his sheetrock from the stress against the walls of his house. And he lost one tree.

Most of his neighbors suffered quite a bit more.

Baytown really took in on the chin, so I would be surprized if DHRA's event there goes as planned now.

And Mike you have a check coming from me this Friday.[director]

For those that don't know...Lazarsmith is branching into the ATV rebuilding business.[laugh][laugh] (jk)

After those crooks at Sherman Powersports took my ATV apart (after I submerged it last New Years) they didn't replace the bearings, hone the cylinders, replace the rings or a number of different things..........that were needed. It ran when I got it back from them, but started burning oil.

I goofed up submerging it. I goofed up not getting the oil out of it right away. Then I goofed up taking it to Sherman Power Sports! What a bunch of Crooks!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SHERMAN POWER SPORTS unless you want to part with money unnecessarily. I don't trust them.

Anyway, Mike has been a godsend and has helped me get my Kawasaki Brute Force back on it's feet. Hopefully we will be able to run it this Friday. Still have an issue with the starter. THANKS MIKE! Mike is Somebody you can trust to do the work that needs to be done and that does what he says he is going to do.

Mine is the Valet 561R!
Brian went with the Valet 57?R with TWO remote aux. inputs (remote start and his high idle box). Both are excellent.
I noticed Curciut City only lists the 561R now??
Whatever you get.... make sure it's manufactured by DEI (several different brand names).
DEI is reasonably prices and by far the best quality..... according to installers.

RJ

It did...all through the Southeast, wherever Ike didn't hit.

It's crazy. In the Hurricane Ike thread, they're talking about gas in the low 3s around the Houston area. But I was in Florida this week and saw reg unleaded around $4.

crobtex
09-20-2008, 06:17 AM
You know this was not out of the goodness of their hearts to keep prices down in South Texas. Someone was threatened by someone. Don't know who, but I'm proud of them. :)

RowJ
09-20-2008, 07:54 AM
It's in the papers. Anyone seeing high, gouging prices has been advised to take a cell phone pic of the price board and send it in to FEMA or some govt. agency.
Maybe sellers are worried about being investigated........ which indicates to me we have been overcharged for a long time!
Further evidence for this fact is the price of fuel futures. Gas futures were around $2.50 a gallon last week.

RJ

Who all is up for going to Houston? I talked with the Williams family a couple of days ago and they are looking forward to our visit and promise to take good care of us (as usual).

Since HRP is a one day event, it would be going down on Friday for a night of food, drink and fun, Saturday at the track and then back to the Williams place for more hospitality.

My understanding is its off 114 going West its at Boyd Raceway and is 60 miles from Frisco.

I and some others are going because its only an hour away and pulling was just a blast last time.

Welcome to DTR Ron!

The amount of interest in the C & M Fund has been near zero - almost 0.8% actually - so it remains a far higher ROI than Fannie or Freddie... [laugh]

Some of our customers stepped up to the plate and provided us with a new SB 12 button, so I donated all of the Fund "M" shares to Charlie; thus allowing Team XLR8R to focus on managing the flagship of our investment portfolio - the CR Ram IRA (Intense Racing Action)... Of course we would welcome all of the help that NADM can supply! [roll]

Location: Boyd Raceway www.boydraceway.net
track phone number: 940-433-5587

The gates, according to the track, will be open all day with the tech around 5:00pm and the pull starting about 7:00pm.

According to David, president of tttpa, the fees are $30 for pullers that gives you 2 pit passes and $20 to pull in the class. There should be a local pulling class for those not wanting to compete (not sure of the fees).

Nothing to report. Me, RJ and Tyler is not exactly a crowd. RJ didn't have his truck, but Tyler did get his injectors changed and new door speakers put in.

Due to lack of interest and other commitments , will probably will not schedule anything else until spring.

Don't forget me and a valve adjustment...

And I finally got around to replacing my starter contacts this evening. Pretty good reason why it wouldn't start too reliably, one of the contacts was almost burned all the way through. Just barely enough material left on the contact surface to still fire.

Next project...drop the tank and fix the fuel level sender. Just wish I knew when it was close to empty. [laugh]

Well shoot, if we have a meet in a heated shop then I'd be up for a dual tank drop session (my fuel sender hasn't worked since April last year).
Without the heat though I could be hard pressed, I'm getting to where I'm like Charlie. Don't like the cold, could be something about me waking up this morning and my bathroom was 53*, either that or its something about being a DTR chapter president. [duhhh]

AggieJustin

The real test is whether it was colder in your bathroom or outside.

We had a trailer at the deer lease one year that was showing 25* inside and 30* outside. I think it might have been missing some insulation. LOL

In any case, I'd much rather work in the cool weather. I was in the garage/driveway yesterday in shorts and a t-shirt pulling the starter. So nice to work without sweating. :D

It was 53* in the bathroom this morning, 41* outside. When I went through at lunch it was 51* inside and 62* outside. I opened the door and felt a chill.
What I need to do is get a hold of someone who can check my furnace, don't know when it last worked, I bought it in July and the owner had it rented out for a while. I'm hoping there is a switch that I'm not seeing and isn't listed in the instructions.

Getting my truck back on the road tomorrow! So I don't have to repeat myself, here is the story.

After 5 yrs, my firerings failed. Small piece from #3 ring and a 1" piece of #4 ring broke off and bounced around inside the cylinders. Many small craters and two small chips off the piston tops resulted. Also had serious cracks in the head on valve seats and injector ports, probably from the same debris.
No damage to cylinder walls!!! Did minor smoothing to piston tops... to prevent carbon build up and bgt a new head ($1200.00). Had it decked and O-ringed and used a Marine, .020 over gasket.

Also turned out my top turbo was leaking at the bearing seal and the compressor blades were chewed up badly. Replaced w/ new turbos. This problem was self induced - used a racing filter that should only have been used at the track. Expensive lesson learned too late. With all the dirt roads I drive.... just let too much 'stuff' through. Going back to the PRO Guard 7 (full time) that comes with the BD Twins.

I got 5 years, some serious street playing and 223 1/4 mile passes out of my setup before any trouble (oh yeah, and one sled pull).
Guess I did alright...especially since my Firering job was suspect from the beginning... as I have probably told everyone before.

Traded Mach 6's for Mach 4's. Daily drivability on an automatic is better w/ 4's, and I never did get closr to the added 70 hp from the 6's.
With the Adrenaline and H20/meth I should still be over 550 hp........... and good to go for the next five years. :D

Nice little load there Robert. Obviously your place had a better forklift for loading the pallet than HD did when I picked up my blocks. I had to pull the tailgate and have them set the pallet in the bed, then push it forward with the fork to get it over the rear axle. Made for a nice cushy Cadillac ride. :D

Well got the new MAN SIZED toolbox installed today... the little one was just not up to the task of moving my crap around anymore as the truck takes on 'Work Truck' duty more and more...

Installed a Luke's link on my track bar this past weekend as well as a new bushing from piers on the lower end... Holy cow batman did that ever make a difference! I could shake the track bar before and the stud would wobble all over the place... Nice and tight now though and always able to adjust.. So that I like... We will see how long it lasts, but I'm not worried...

Also replaced a weepy turned drippy transfer case output seal, easy 30min job. Something interesting I thought... Always was told the only difference between the HD and the LD transfer case was PTO capabilities, but when ordering the new seal the HD has a significantly larger ID compared to that of the LD... So I guess strength is improved with the HD considerably after all.

And last on the list just picked up a set of Titan ST235-80-16 tires for my gooseneck... Blew out 3 tires on that trailer over the past couple years. Tires only have 2850# load rating * 2 = 5700# a far cry from the 7k rating of the axle... and I load it heavy at times... the Titans are good for 3550# a piece and have the craziest thick sidewalls I have ever seen! Them things are thick! Warranty is pretty good as well so we will see... Read some good things about them on other forums...

Curious! What say you to this PM I had saved from 'Gotdiesel' (I think) in 2005..... Think he's incorrect?

"There is a 241DLD and a 241 DHD, both of which can be found in our years. I have researched this and found that they are still both Heavy Duties, but the DLD has no PTO provision ...... I have had my 241DLD apart recently to upgrade the head gear for a manual conversion, and through a few years of heavy power, stall launches, full 4X4 drags, big tires so on and so on. Everything looked absolutely brand new. Even the chain was tight as can be. I was going to upgrade to a DHD, but when this one has done me right, I'll leave it alone.
They only have one little flaw, and that's the output shaft bearing retaining snap ring. They tend to break, allowing the shaft to walk inwards, which can be damaging. There is a fix available at any trans shop that will rectify this, and all that is needed to be taken apart is driveline removal and output housing removal. Good luck and don't worry about DLD's."

I honestly have no idea, but these are the specs I found for the rear seal:
Dodge LD 241 Transfer case rear output seal: 1.886 X 2.700
Dodge HD 241 Transfer case rear output seal: 2.205 X 3.055

1.886 and 2.205 are the inner diameters, therefore the outer diameters of the drive shaft?

Maybe they changed something in the dodges and made them the same?

bnold
11-05-2008, 08:44 AM
Definitely think a strength difference is likely with a 2-3/16" diameter shaft over 1-7/8", bearing sizes increase as well...

Yeah! Like I said ...just curious. I did a lot of research a few yrs ago (concerned about transfer case wear & tear on DLD from drag racing) and could find no problems reported from repeated 4x4 launches or from sled pullers!
I guess the DLD is tough...... the DHD is tougher. :)
