Two Questions about 05 CTD
Ok first how come my 05 didnt come with a block heater ? How much is one from the dealer ? Second the cold weather TSB for low cab heat or high idle , can only a dealer do this or can I ?I dont want to take my truck in to the dealer cause I'll have to take off my edge . I want the high idle cause I will be making alot of stops this winter and I would rather leave my truck running .
Thanks
Mike

2003 and early 04 trucks would go into high idle mode below like 38*F or somthing around that temp. the 04.5+ trucks can get the high idle enabled to be used through the cruise control buttons, keep in mind this is only for automatics.
yes your truck has the heater in it, you just need to buy the cord if it already did not come with it. i suggest not buying it from the dealer, they want close to $40 for it when you can get the same thing at cummins or other places for $12

my 04.5 will automatically raise its idle when the temp gets low enough. ( on cold mornings). but i also have the high idle feature enabled. which allows me to do the samething , anytime i want - using my cruise control "on" button and my "accel" button.

On the block just behind the oil filter. I Might have an extra cord in new and unused condition if someone needs one. Its been on my truck but never used. I got a cord from work with a recepticle with a cover over it to keep the plug out of the elements.

....actually the heater element should have a cap on it that you can unscrew and then install your cord. DmaxEtr's location description should get you there.
