Twins Kit

Who has used a BD Diesel Super B Twin Turbo kit? What can you tell me? Spool fast? Power? Towing? Sound-are the turbos loud? What else should I know? The truck is pretty much stock. I'm not going for max output...just a cool upgrade.

If I remember correctly, there is a post on here (I think it was on this forum) done not so long ago a member put up about his experiences installing a BD twins setup and a ATS twins setup. It's complete w/ good pics and neutral, factual description of the whole process. I'll close by saying, IF,I ever get to that point, it really shed some light on who I would use.

He's got a good point above. And I wouldn't limit myself to those choices either.

However to answer your question directly, yes, they spool fast and are very good stoplight to stoplight turbos, tow great, they are not loud at all either. It would be a big upgrade from your stock turbo. They are limited on top end to about 575hp. In all, a very sound and solid kit, but, like the old hx35/ht3b setups, they are on the obsolete side of things... meaning, for the money there is better to be had. If you are getting a used set for a good price, I'd do that; especially for an 03-04 truck replacing a stock turbo. New though--- I'd shop for something better or opt for their r700 twins.

After running a couple big single chargers, I was sick of lag while towing. So my decision between BD's towing twins or their R700 kit was tough to make, an HE351 over an S400 was also on my radar screen.

I love my R700's, they are towing son of a guns, plus they are pretty darn fast on the street too. The install was staight forward, once I threw the instructions away....

I did it myself in my driveway, my 81 yr old Father in law handed me tools, pre-oiled the new chargers and was in charge of refreshments. Most of a Saturday, and half of Sunday, they were in.

The Super B makes a great secondary compressor, very little lag on take off, and none while towing, I am always "on boost".

buddy of mine just went from the r700's tot he 850 setup, he needed more power, and the 850 set blows his mind with 120 sticks and a few other mods, his truck flat out rips, and he claims the same spoolup.

For the common rail you usually can step right into the R700 kit as it wont limit your hp to about 550-575hp. They will still tow great, and move tonnes of air. You wont go wrong with either one.

Since he said it's basically a stock truck my bet would be BD towing twins or HE351/S400 w/71mm or smaller and a smarty jr.

I would just run the stock charger over a S471 if its mainly a stock truck, plus if you add some fuel down the road it should still make 600 + hp.

What do you think would be a fair price for what you get? Keep in mind that you get a manifold and an airbox along with the turbos and all the plumbing? Not trying to be argumentative just what you would think was fair?

I purchased my R700's for less money, than any other complete twins setup I inquired about. II's, ATS, were more, the only company that came close was MPI, that was because Nathan had a HE351 he was going to let go for cheap.

I admit, I received an exceptional deal, now having run them, I believe they are worth more than I paid.

I think maybe WUnderwood is shopping.....
