Twins, Will I ever finish?

Why didn't someone tell me that when you build your own set of twins (B1B-B2) that you never seem to finish. The fabrication and the need for another fitting seems to never end. Man this stuff is great! I should be finished with my project in a couple more weeks and I'm really excited.
I want to thank Rod Snaith at Wildcat Diesel for tons of advise and the hardware to do the job. I would also like to thank Don Morrison at Formula 1 Performance (Ported, polished, and O'ringed Head, Custom Grind Cam, and really big injectors). I have learned so much from you guys,Thanks.

Hopefully I will have everything finished and tuned for Thunder in Muncie.

That's a sweeeeet setup ! How much $$$ approx will you have into it when complete ? Since I've never seen a twin setup in person, I'm curious about the air filter you can see in the pic...is that the only one ? If so, how do you keep from ingesting all that hot air coming off the twins ?
Thanks, and I look forward to hearing about and seeing your project complete.

Moose10,
That is the only air filter but the piping around it is pushing cold air. The manifold and downpipe are the hot ones.
As for $$$$'s spent, I don't really know but if I did I could say the price real fast and it wouldn't sound as bad. The twins weren't that bad. There are many companies that sell them for around $3K to 4K.

Don,
I can't wait to drive this thing. I really think my setup will work well. The only concern is my wastegate. I hope a Tial 46mm wastegate will flow enough around the B1 and drive the primary. I also installed 2 pop-offs to controll the primary. Jim Fulmer advised me to do that.

It dont end after you get it running either. I have a leaking wastegate and can not find a rebuild kit for it. So I ordered a new extreme gate today. I am gonna rip both twins out and reconfigure them this weekend. Trying to get the right angles out of wastegate piping and make the wastegate more accessable. Driving around with twins makes all the work worth it though. What brand blowoff valves are you using? Tim

Looks awesome man! Trust me, it will be worth it after driving it. I didn't build my twins piping, but the first run I had mine out it was all smiles! A month later and I'm still all smiles! Can't wait to see your results!

Timinva,
I don't have the name of the blow-off valves but Jim Fulmer PMed me on them and Piers sold them to me. I would call Piers. I installed two of them on the innercooler pipe going into the innercooler. With a B-2 I hope two will do the trick. Jim has the big brother and has thought about using another. I just want to keep my pressures between 60 and 70 psi. I'm installing Mach 6's and have a new VP pump. I hope that much fuel will spool that B-2. This waiting is killing me!

Whats the spool-up like for the twin bombers? I looking at twining my truck but there are too many good options to choose from. Has anybody done a comparison to the holset twins to a bomber twins? I'm looking pretty hard at PDR HT3B/HX40 twins package, but the bombers look pretty sweet.

First on the pop off's, with the 40/BB combo I'm having a real hard time keeping it below 80 psi but the B-2 is a little tamer like the 3B so it has not been an issue. The 40/3B combo is just a dang good setup and has been pushed to 750's, I think this is a better dyno combo than mine as my B/B light's off late on a dyno-jet, a 3B or B-2 would do better (a guess) but I would not take for my setup........it just flat kick's it on the road and I'd do it again!

Jim,
How does your water injection work with this set-up? I hope I've done enough to avoid lifting the head again with mine(Studs, O-Rings,etc.). It's no fun having a truck down for two or three months.
I've never seen a Big Brother in person, I bet that thing is a monster! Hope you can make it to Muncie this year, I would love to see your truck on the Dyno. They have even put a little $500 carrot out there for the highest HP with #2 diesel only.

The water stuff works real good, so far I haven't had any issues except trying to keep it in the road, I've been running 21 degrees in the past. Don't know about Muncie but it looks like leave for May Madness is going to get cancelled. On the B/B it's a Hoss at 11 inches across the compressor housing and moves a ton of air at higher than expected psi and does a real nice job of lighting off but is a little late on the dyno, from what I saw last weekend it's about 200 rpm later than a 3B, a 3B or B-2 on bottom is really hard to beat for a dyno but will never move near the air I can on the road or track.

So would you o-ring the block for a HT3B/HX40 combo? I just thinking about o-ring the head and using studs. Would I have enough air for mach 4 or similar injector with these turbos? Thanks guys for the help.

An O-ring should go hand and hand with Twins, I ran without one for 6 months but I was at lower power (450)

I would like to some how figure out how to put a wg before the primary but its so dang tight I dont know where I would put it. You guys have so much more room to work with twins.

I'd stay with what you have for the 3B, a 23cm works better on the bottom but gives it up on top, even a 32 is better on the top end.
