Twin Turbos again

Twin Turbos again
After making a set with the HX35/HT3B combo for my fathers truck, I am ready to make a larger set for my truck. I have a 40 with 16 and 18 housings. What should I use for the large turbo? Is there an HT4 or HC4? I have heard of an H6. Anyone got info on such chargers?

I'm running an HX40/18 and an HT4B. The HT4B is a monster, its much larger than a 3B. This setup is working out very good with me but you need a lot of fuel to run it. Another large turbo option is Kurt Yardley's Big Brother.

I'm building a PDR Twin Turbo prepped 40/16 and a Big Brother as he is handling the (B) series turbo's now, looking at the work schedule I doubt I'll be able to give you good data till after the new year but I do know this combo works.

Re:Twin Turbos again
The B2 should fit the '40 well.
Personally I'd do a 35/14 with a 40 compressor and a B2.
the B2 and BB spin opposite the HT's and it makes the piping much cleaner. the B2 vas a v-band compressor outlet that stops a lot of blowing off boots.
FWIW,
Mark

Anybody got part #'s for the HT4B? I have a list of every part # of every HT4B but I don't know which one to use. What were these used on originally; what size motor? Thanks SS

For an HT4B contact JR Adkins... he is a member here who responds to PM's... You can get a stock one from him or a custom one that is ballanced and spools really quick. You could e-mail him if you would like also. He is the man to talk to about all the Holsets.

Re:Twin Turbos again
I'm running a 4B on the bottom, but I don't have enough seat time to give solid impressions of it.
Big HP, and Lagggy is all I can say now.
Be prepared to be able to puch BIG boost numbers. A 35/3B is good to ALMOST 80PSI. A 40/4B will put you into the 100's. Head work is a MUST.
If you want more info, feel free to drop me a PM. I am running injectors, DV's, and turbo's from J.R.

I would predict 100 psi+ of drive pressure and the temp at the hat would be 300 at least, if you know me you know I don't brag but no one has tested this combo more than me.
This next year I'm going to try and swing a data logger in the budget.

Merrick, are you sure that it's not your "small" 55 turbo that is the lag pig in your set up?

Re:Twin Turbos again
As is clearly obvious, I'm no twin turbo expert. :-
I guess I didn't pay attention,, the '35 completely slipped my mind, I was thinking of my old setup.
I hit 78PSI on my 40/16-3B/26.
Andrew,, It may be. Testing is in the works,, I am going to find out the answer to what you are thinking as soon as they get back. I think it was the main reason. Although, natural, a bigger charger, with bigger wheels will be laggier.
Jim, what's funny, is guys pushing 45PSI on a stock HX-35/12 are probably seeing the same results as a 35/3B at 80PSI, just nowhere near the HP. Do you think so ?

Probably about ready to pop, if the math is right drive pressure would be like 70-75 psi. The 40/3b should be good till about 80 but your the only one running it that high so it's a guess. On my old setup drive pressure was 1 to 1 till after 60 psi, with the 16 housing on the 35 it was 72-75@65 psi and 82 at 70@ psi, with a 18.5 on top it dropped it a little but the bad part was going from 65 to 70 psi of boost the air temp at the hat raised 35 degrees......there done!
Jim (no expert either ;D)
