TV cable and convertor

ok i just took off my TV cable and ordered a new one, i had to much play, could push the throttle down 1/4 way to floor before cable moved, and was maxed out for tensioning it, i messed with it a little and it really screwed up the shift points. ANYWAYS my question is, would this cause the convertor to not lock up. for ex, you lock it out of overdrive and and it shift 1, 2,3, and then the convertor never locks, just stays revved, or at 65 and in overdrive its at 1900rpm give or take a few, but the minute you touch the throttle it just revvs instead of staying there and accerlerate, it unlocks, and i know its not slipping becasue when its revving its taking off. would that cable be my issue or is there sometihng more like a solenoid??

Someway you have fubarred the TV cable adjustment. If have 1/4 inch travel something is maladjusted or spring hooked up wrong. TV cable adjustment will mess up a bunch of shifts. Perhaps a FSM would help to understand.

the thing is it was worn, i just bought it, so im looking it and it had wayy to much play, and bad shift poiints, so i ordered a new one since this one could no longer be tightened but im hoping that is why the convertor wasnt locking good, since there cant be any line pressure with that much play

I found I could not adjust mine properly, read it somewhere to "bend" the TV arm down by the tranny it allowed me to "adjust" my TV cable

Again I say, you don't see how it works. The throttle pulls the TV cable and moves the lever on side of tranny. This causes VB to change pressure according to drivers request for power. Cable should be adjsuted so immediatelly on moving throttle you also move from the completelly closed position the throttle pressure valve. A properlly installed cable will have a spring holding lever on tranny at minimum until you open throttle. It could have a 1/2 inch free play in slack condition........... JMHO
