turbo whine
had a 2001 CTD with a 6 speed manual shift. could really wind it out and the turbo would sing to me.
now have a 2005 with the 48re and just can't hear the turbo. what gives, my hearing or is something different with the turbo singing?

My 05 sings to me, but I don't have the 48RE. "This thing sounds like an airplane" is what my wife said to me the first few times she rode in it. "Doesn't it?" she'd ad.
Did you try keeping it in 2nd, and bringing up the tack to 2500 or so?

try removing the silencer ring and gutting the intake silencer tube... that will make things a little louder on the intake side [and some swiss cheeze action on the airbox bottom seems to make it a little louder too]

horsehauler you aren't working your truck nearly hard enough. Those exhaust manifold bolts should be blue and the heat shield should be brown. Then you know it's working hard.
