Turbo Upgrade

Looking at getting bigger sticks (Maybe RV275 or Rv300's or Mach 1.6's).

So what would pair well with these or even the current set up?

I've heard about doing an hx34 hybird or an hx40....

Is the hx40 a direct bolt on?

Sources for the turbos?

The HX40 is a charger that has been around for years. They work ok. They tend to have a fair amount of lag for street driving. They also have inherently weak shafts, so you have to be careful about not breaking them. Buying an HX40 would be like going out and buying a VCR today. Will it work, yes, but there have definately been some advances in technology that you can take advantage of.

Have a look at our Super B charger. Based off the BW S300. It is capable of 475-500hp and is a direct bolt on. Comes with the down-pipe. You would get much better bottom end throttle response with this charger over the HX40 and they can also take a lot more abuse.

Kantdrive, What's the spec's on the super B? Which gate you using in the turbo? I like the garrett 3782R, but they are way more money than a HX-40. You can find new 40's for around 300-400 bucks new. You can find them off the 8.3L ISC motors. You just change the turbine housing, or get an adapter to use as the 8.3L use T-04 flange. My local turbo shop gave me the turbine housing for free, so that are advantages to using old stuff. If you get the right combo and do a few mods, they will make decent power. You could also scoop up a newer 5.9L turbo VE351 turbo or a 6.7L. There are a few threads out there to put mechanical activator and remove the electronics. That way you get the exhaust brake.

Thanks for the advice Kantdrive55, but there's a large jump in price between a new hx40 for $300.00 and a SuperB for $1335.00. That was more than I wanted to spend on both injectors and a turbo....

Other thoughts?

You could turn your HX35 into a 35/40 hybrid. Like 400$ through HTT I think.
I really liked my hybrid. It did an awesome job but was lookin for something new and a little lower egts. Never saw over 1525* at the end of a 1/4 mile. But with the thought of adding injectors and Smarty stack, swapped for my Super B. Still no sticks of smarty, but Its doin well for me so far.
