Turbo upgrade question....

Been doing a lot of thinking about a turbo upgrade and now wonder if it is even necessary. I picked up an HX40, it had the exhaust impeller trashed. I can put together a hybred I guess, but I have been thinking.

My EGT's are great, no need for more air. The truck does not smoke at all except if the EZ is set to the strongest setting, a little pre boost smoke. I do want a larger exhaust housing for a better exhaust flow so will go to a 14 or 16 from the 12.

Thought I had a 14 on the commercial engine, is visually larger than the Dodge, but removing it and looking at the cast in number it is also a 12.

There are smarter than I on here, what do you think? Hybred, larger housing, or just leave it alone. I will be going to 4 inch downpipe so stock would have to be with a reducer. My use is pulling loads only, don't really care of the spool up time. Have 275's and EZ. I have no plans of going to higher horsepower, I am real satisfied with the 660 torque and pulling power of the RV275.

I'd leave it alone. If your not having EGT problems, then I'd keep the smaller housing and benefit from the quicker spool up.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If your EGT's are fine and you're only aiming for better highway mileage, I'd just go with a bigger exhaust housing. I don't think a 16 would spool too slow for you, you've got decent sized injectors and an EZ.
