I really like my A2k! I think the ATS site says it's good to 450hp and the A3k good for 550hp. The turbine housing is so big it doesn't need a wastegate and it spins up like a stock turbo. Craig

If you want to utilize the Predator while towing, go with the 3k or a HTT 64/13ss. With that load and the extra fuel, it will still probably be a struggle with egts. A 2k or 62/12 for sure won't cool things.

Ohhh really, have you checked out an A2k? You WAY underestimate it! I don't know about the 62-12 but I know I can't get above 1225 on 100 hp and 1350 on Extreme. I did some comparing (measuring) on my A2k and Holset 14 turbines and I guesstimate the A2k is ~20 sq cm. The A2k cools terrific! I don't know if the A3k follows the same pattern IAW the huge turbine. If it does, it would also be great for the next step up. I was as much concerned about driveability as I was with cooling and boost so I went with the 2k and not the 3k. I also did the A2k and 4" before the Pred and holy cow, what an improvement that was! I think I'm going to go with the Aurora 2000 or 3000 when I finally get around to buying. Just not sure which yet.

First of all, you have an '03, which doesn't fuel as much as a newer truck. It also doesn't have a third injection event like the newer engines - which creates a lot of heat. From the factory, a 600/610 engine will run at least a couple hundred degrees hotter than your '03. Second, in talking to ATS about my truck and it's uses, they recommended the 3k thinking the 2k would not be large enough to cool my mods - that was before the injectors and cp3. I can tell you that even with the 3k, if I'm on an incline, I have to keep an eye on the egts if I'm running more than 100hp. If I had the 2k, I know it would run hot.

Would a Hightech Turbo HTB2 62/14 be too much for surge-free towing?

Hey. At this point I agree. But you're talking a $2000 difference in price.
