Turbo much loader now

I took out the little white plastic thingy in the factory torque tube. Man does the turbo now. I installed a BHAF thinking that it would make the turbo louder and was disappointed when I couldn't hear much of a difference. So tonight I got the idea to remove the white / clear plactic thingy thats closest to the turbo to see if that would make a difference. Wow what a difference!!!! I can hear at idle. It took a little work to back it out of the tube (about 10 minutes) but it was well worth it.. Well I just thought I would share this with ya'll. I've heard of people talking about taking it out but I've never heard any feed back..

The curved fins? I only removed the baffles in the straight tube, aren't the curved blades there to help the flow of air more than anything?

Did you also remove the metal silencer in the front of the turbo?

Yes, the curved fins. I took the air flow into consideration. I removed the fins and drove home without them to see how it would effect my EGTs if anything they went down. I dont see how an obstruction in the air's pathway can help it flow better, but I'm no airodynamic specialist..

I took the elbow off (the one connected to the turbo) and with a little work I reversed the plastic fin assembly out of the ruber elbow.

Do you get a loud rush of air inside the truck now or just more turbo sing? I know when I had the torque tube i took it off because of all the air rushing thru the tube. Sounded cool, just couldn't handle the noise all the time, but I am looking for more turbo singing !!

I think it sings more at lower RPM's. When I turn my high idle I can hear the turbo. I never heard that before I took it out

I remove the white fins and the silencer ring also - but still have the stock intake with K&N filter - it whistled more with the ring installed than it does now - now it makes more of a whoosh sound... I guess it's time for an AFE intake..

do you have to do any cutting to get the baffle out of the tube, we were looking at yanking my brothers, along with his silencer ring, but did not see the easy means rigt away.
