Turbo Leak???
I have been doing a little research but I thought I would throw my specific problem out there. I noticed this weekend that my EGT's were climbing a bit high on acceleration. They look fine at idle and when I am cruising on a flat surface. Example, this morning I was in 3rd gear, 1300 rpm going up hill and running 900* on the pyro. I took the air cleaner out last night to see if it was clogged and ran it on the road a short ways and it made no difference. I am just wondering if you guys think I might have a leak in my intercooler boots somewhere. I noticed there are boot kits out there for $200, but I don't want to drop $200 right now if I didn't have to. I also read about the leak tester, I might try that this weekend. Just wanted to get a second opinion. It only seems like they climb high on acceleration. Thanks for any help. Any one have a cheaper site for the boot kits???

well I was in a parking lot in 3rd gear so I really didn't want to wind it up. just going down the interstate I am at about 4 psi. which I used to be at around 6 or so. I haven't had a pyro gauge in warm weather so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. Like I said it runs fine idling or on a flat stretch. Does everything sound normal here I guess? Thanks

Perfectly as the more you push the throttle the more fuel/ more heat. The lower the RPM the longer the senser has the hot gas near it and the hotter you read. Faster RPM the more exhaust volume the quicker the engine will dissipate that heat

I've noticed higher EGT's in the summer when on the highway, but never noticed a difference when horsing around. I don't like doing that when its cold since you never know when you'll hit a patch of ice. 900 in 1300rpm sounds normal, assuming you were giving it some throttle. I usually don't get much over 800 getting onto the highway running through the gears, but its easier to keep cool at 2k rpms than 1300.
