Turbo back 5" exhaust
Who has run a turbo back 5" on thier rigs?
I have a 5" on the 12v with no muffler. With the twins its nice no drone, and not to loud.
For the 03 I picked up a turbo off a 06 but dont want to use the stock downpipe from the 03 and the exhausts only come turbo back in a 5" if I dont want to run the necked down 3.5" elbow. How much drone do the 5" systems really have? For those that have one do you wish you didn't?

I have a 5" Silverline. Ran it with the Silverline bullet muffler that came with it for a few months. It was to load and had drone at around 2k. I swapped the Silverline muffler with a 51" Donaldson and have been very happy with it.

I never heard of anybody sayin' they wish they would've bought a smaller exhaust, but that's just me.
The 5" Magnaflow I have is pretty loud in the cab when you are towing, but that doesn't bother me much, but for some it does...

Okay, thanks for the replies.
I managed to scrounge up a 600 downpipe (who would have thought Piers would have one laying around LOL) today so I just went with the 4" one.

Been running my 5" turbo-back for a few months now...absolutely love it. It is considerably louder under acceleration but like stated above, cruising down the road its surprisingly quiet.
I only get drone when I start pushing 80 MPH...but up to 75 MPH, no drone at all. Same goes for towing...

Who makes a 5 inch turbo back for an 07, and what are you doing to keep the dtc's from popping up.... I'm about to purchase an 07 qc 2wd with the 6.7 and this woud seem like the best route to take with it, do it once and be done with it.

all depends on if you run a muffler it wont be that bad at all. if you run the "offroad" system it may have some drone its all a matter of how much noise you want. I like the sound and looks of 5" thats one of the first things ive done to my trucks

In my 07' the drone isn't bad at all up intill you get over 2k rpms. After that its very loud. I put a muffler on mine and now the drone is gone.
But outside the truck, 5" is the only way to go, sounds awesome!
This spring im gonna swap my exhaust manifold to a 2nd gen style for better sound. Then I will be removing the muffler agian to enjoy the sound since I don't drive it all that much anymore.
