Tuning suggestions for Very Hot Weather
Live in Phoenix, it's been 110* for 60+ days....truck is obviously down on power / spool is slower / smoke way up / trans at 180* / water temp at 210*....all is normal for this hot of weather.....so just curious for those that live in hot climates, do you make any changes when the weather gets this hot? I normlly just leave it alone and deal with it, but it stinks to loose the beauty of the performance for 3 months out of the year.

True dat...
My summer solution was to revert back to the 4.11 wild from the beta 4.xs, smoke is down, egts are down, but power is too unless I dog it hard. Right now my focus is on fuel mileage with decent power and spoolup. I'm making my sacrifices.

It gets plenty hot here in North Texas. A lot hotter than I want it to be anyway with plenty of 100+ degree days. This summer has actually been light compared to many.
Anyway, I don't do anything different with the truck. I crack my windows everyday, put in a sun shade in the windshield and a towel over the steering wheel. If you don't vent your windows then the temp inside the vehicle will be 150 degrees or more! That has to be hard on some things (dashboard, electronics etc.)....besides yourself.
I try to be courteous to other drivers by lightfooting it away from red lights etc........so it doesn't smoke to much. But I can see a haze coming out anytime I push the peddle a little. I don't change any settings...I run mine on "kill" all the time.
I just want it to cool off so I can go outside and enjoy working on it again.

Reducing the timing will help with the spool up and smoke. Also running synthetics and keeping the air filter clean can help too. And maybe throw in a couple of bottle of Redline Water Wetter into the coolant.

hate the hot weather in South florida and it does make my truck feel slower. it sucks because driving with AC will add l00-200* at idle. My cure for feeling slow is moving up to CL even though i really shouldnt...
