I fought my exhaust manifold ALL DAY....This thing has got to be made of Krypton impregnated tungsten carbide!!!

The Great Neck tap from AutoZone couldn't tap Jello pudding... I even tried tapping a STAMPED mild steel signpost to see how it matched the
thermocouple fitting....It wouldnt even tap mild steel...

The one day "Traveling Tool" carnival saved the day! I got a $30 gold
plated something or another die set & it performed MUCH better..Followed per
Autometer Inst. "Use a 5/16 bit blah, blah,......." WRONG! I used a 11/32 or I would have NEVER cut it...Tap would have broke... Everybody says,"Oh,just
take 1/2 turn at a time"...I would OPEN THE DOOR & say "You're welcome, SIR" to the man that could take more than that on THIS manifold!

Well, The thread cutting gods smiled on this poor soul today because after
abusing me royally for most of the day I guess they felt sorry for me AND...
IT CAUGHT!!!...HALLEHLUJAH!!! After getting a good early start at 7AM I
got the thermocouple in place at about 5:30 this afternoon ... There was lots of disgust thrown in there; it wasn't all solid work. If you would have put the stopwatch to me I probably spent 3-3 1/2 hrs. total.

By the way, how do they figure the sizing on a 1/8" NPT Pipe tap?? This tap THREADS A 11/32 HOLE!!!..
