Tuner questions...
i have a couple questions with regards to tuners and chips. my trucks is completely stock as far as i know. i have a superchips programmer for it and normally run it on "performance-tow" setting. now to my delima, i returned the computer to stock today for the drive home from Dallas to Houston for the hell of it. i dont think i got as good fuel mileage without the tuner and i didnt like the lack of acceleration. however, i did like that the engine was much quieter without the tuner. with the tuner installed at any of its three levels(tow-safe, performance-tow, extreme) the motor is quite loud, even at idle you can hear a difference in the sound. however, the thing i dislike the most about installing the tuner is that it seems like the truck does not accelerate nearly as smooth with the tuner installed as it does at stock
has anyone else experienced either of these two things with the superchips tuner?
are these problems due to a change in timing? if not, how does the superchips achieve the power gains?
are all tuners this way? smarty? ect?
surely someone knows exactly what i am talking about. i am thinking about selling this thing and getting something else. i dont need gobs of power so i dont need a drag comp or anything like that. i am hoping that i can find something that has smooth acceleration, isnt so much louder, makes decent power, and gets better then stock fuel mileage.

the noise is the timing, superchip is crap sell it as soon as possible, get a smarty or if you dont feel like spending 650 bucks then get a van aaken, both are rated for around 65 hp so not to hard on the vp44.

I don't think that it's crap because it works good for me and many others. I'm sure that the Smarty is better but for the money and what you get, it's a good programmer. I've noticed my engine is ticky'er sounding with it turned on and I agree that it's the timing. I'm happy with mine and it does all that I need it to.

its just my opinion based on what iv read on here, i think with those injectors you should get a van aaken or an ez (boost fooler included) from the classifieds and you will enjoy towing with your truck alot more.
