tst problems

i have the tst comp box on a 2002. it just started acting funny. it will go in and out for no reason. the remote will be on 4 or whatever i have it set on and then it will all the sudden cut out and flash 8 or 0 or something goofy. seems like it only does it when i get into it real hard. i checked all connections and all are good. funny thing is its just the remote that blinks not the box inside the truck but it does loose power. any ideas. i called tst and they said it was probaly a connection but it dosnt seem to be. if it would be a connection any ideas what one it would be. thanks

Mine did this about three years ago. It was the cheap little fush holder thats inline with the box power wire. The spring was pretty cheezy and when things were getting exciting the vibration would cause the connection to be jittery. Got another fuse holder from the plant and all was well.

Mine did this too. I checked all the major connections over and over again. Right before I was ready to give up, I took those stupid splicer clips off and did a nice solder job just to ensure the connection was right .................................... hasn't blinked since!!! Those splicer clips aren't a good connection, end of story. I clamped the helloutta those things and it still blinked on me ............. not now!

Probably the fuse holder.
The fuses (5v, I think) can be tempramental also. Can look ok but be bad. Cheap to replace and eliminates one other possibility. I started carrying a spare.

When I first installed mine I was getting sporadic operation, and after checking all connections, I took the spring out of the fuse holder and stretched it out a little. Has worked fine ever since...almost two years now.
