TST to much fuel??

On my truck I have a hesitation above level 7x7 and any higher levels are useless, even on 5x5 with 45lbs of boost I could shut down a major interstate. After talking to TST they told me that I was pumping in to much fuel and putting the fire out, they did not offer any ideas on how to correct this. So does anybody know of a way to correct this problem if so how, cam, head, twins?? Has anybody else noticed this on there trucks? I do currently have the newest software reflash. Thanks, Mike

The duration is just too long above 7x7. Stack a pressure chip and or use taylored injectors to make more power. A cam may or may not be able to help that. Piers would be the guy to talk to about the cam.

It looks like he already has a EZ stacked with the TST.

On the TDR, there are a couple guys with that same stack and when they dynoed their trucks, the highest HP came with the EZ on 4 and the TST on 4x4 or 5x5. I think twins may help, or try lower EZ settings. Here is the link...

I second that. All in favor say "aye". With all the testing I've done with the current stack (TST, Va C3.1, B1-04) twins are in my near future.

p.s. for some reason I don't have the missing problem at 7x5 or 8x5 just high egt's. go figure...

First of all you have the new program in the TST, which is less aggressive. Second of all the Killer B2 should give you alot more air. I dont think that its to much fuel for what you are running (even with the EZ).

Mark has made the TST box alone suck a fuel rail dry by lengthing injection pulse for some comp set ups (yes, some without twins) and I have rode in a truck that was one of them (stock charger) without problems except for EGT's (that was a smoke show!). Lengthing the pulse is how the D-MAX guys get their big HP (they just need nitrous for cooling and oxygen for the extra fuel, just like our twin turbos). They have run programers+duration boxes+pressure boxes with nitrous to get 6,7,and almost 800 HP (Qzilla claims to have made almost 1100 HP!), and thats alot more duration than we have really seen with the CR motors and it has been working for a long time.

If you're talking about a hesitation right after you stomp the pedal to the floor followed what feels like missing then I'd say it's normal on those high levels. As already mentioned, with the EZ stacked your max power level is around 4-4 to 5-5. Anything over that really drains the rail pressure and just causes a lot of smoke and EGT. Dial it down a bit and it should run a lot better.

John the hesitation is every couple of seconds all the way through the rpm range, and after talking to DPP about possibly running the rail dry with the FASS they assured me that there was no way, than I called TST and they told me that I was putting in to much fuel and putting the fire out, the only way I am going to proove this either way is to put a fuel pressure gauge on it which I plan on doing anyways. I run my truck around every day at either 4x4 or sometimes at 5x5 and it is very strong with no hesitation and minimal smoke, but once I get past that level all it does is smoke and definately hp goes down. Mike,

Mine does the same thing. It's not the FASS' fault or any pusher pump's fault for that matter... the rail is just too small to keep the pressure up when you hold the injector open that long. I have talked to other guys about it, and their trucks do it, too. I have heard second hand that the pressure can fall well below the 20K psi level when running on the higher levels. Dyno runs clearly show that the HP drops off quite a bit, up to 80 HP, when going from 5-5 to 9-9 when stacked with the EZ. Those graphs also develop a pretty good dip in them showing the hesitation you feel. DonM is claiming that his injectors stop that HP drop, but IMO the real fix is going to be a larger rail. We have the same CP3 as the DMax guys, but they have a much larger rail capacity. They're basically running one rail for each back of clyinders, so they have to feed just 4 injectors instead of our 6. Bottom line, I would say anything is wrong, but just that those high settings are too aggressive for making good, clean power.

I got my connections wet and felt this also

dried them out and all was good
except the 1100 rpm miss and crank code
