TSB - Help!
Sorry to beat a dead horse...
Took my truck in today for an oil change and told them about bad milage (14mpg on highway). I then mentioned TSB 18-037-04. Said that I knew a friend with the same problem who got the flash with good results. I also said that I wanted the High Idle.
When they returned my truck they said that I was acutally getting acceptable milage between 16 aqnd 17mpg. I asked how they verified and the response was by using a computer. I thouroughly quizzed their process and the guy was way too vague. He then told me that the truck has all the current flashes. I asked when he did 18-037-04 and he again said it had all current flashes.
How can that be?
To make a long story short, it's gotta be total B.S. because I bought the truck in August 04 it has a June build date on the motor, and I don't think that TSB has been done. What do I do?
Anyone have a clean copy of the TSB? I have the dodgeram.info copy , I need the clean .pdf copy so I can show him so I don't waste any more time or money on fuel. I am looking for one that looks a little more official.
Thanks.

Find someone you can trust at the dealer to run a build sheet and service history on the VIN of your truck. Verify what TSB's if any have been done. That'll tell you whether it's been done or not. Unlikely that a June'04 built truck would have had the reflash done before the release in October. OR find another dealer.

This is like a bad soap-opera...
Just called him yesterday. The guy sends off bad vibes. He seems real negative. I was extremely polite and explained that I had a copy of the TSB and it didn't look like it had been done. He quickly said "where did you get that?". I explained that I downloaded it on the internet and printed it off. He said that that availability was a bad thing and I asked him to explain... he quickly changed the subject. He didn't know crap about the TSB, yet he said that it would "triple" the warm-up time. He said that it couldn't be backed out (which I already know), but he tried to convince me the TSB was a real bad thing. Despite his warnings, I scheduled another appointment for Monday 11/22/04 to get this done.
I really want to turn from the real nice guy, to an knot head back on him, but I don’t think it will get me anywhere. The problem is that this place gives me free oil changes for the life of the vehicle because I bought it there, and the Sales Rep is a buddy of mine.
The drama continues...

Oh, and the guy also told me that there was no "printout" that can be done on the vehicle. He is a total liar.
Also, is there an evaporative canister in a diesel???

I wonder what would happen if you went to his boss and told him/her what the moron had said. That kind of shuckin' and jivin' seems to only happen when someone has almost no clue what they are talking about, but doesn't want that fact known. I'd interpret his comment about the availability of info on the internet being bad to mean "it makes us look like dumbasses when the customer knows more than us, and we can't jerk them around".

V8440, You are right. I think I will wait until the work is done though. It's like complaining about the cook before the meal has been served. Have a nice spit sandwich...
I originally led on to know little info just to give him the upper hand and keep him thinking like he was the expert. As it turned out he tried to BS me into letting me know he knew more. Very bad strategy.
Txhawg,
I agree, but like I mentoned before, Free Oil Changes...
What would you do considering this?

There's no need for monogamy when it comes to dealers. I would take the truck to another dealer for the TSB and continue going to this dealer for the free oil changes.
Also, have you asked your salesman buddy to "have a few words" with this idiot? It might change his attitude.

Guys keep in mind that there is ALOT of WRONG info floating around on the internet. I burned a copy of a TSB for brakes one time. While I was in the shop with the Service Guys I asked them to bring it up on there screen. The TSB didn't even apply to my truck, plus was for 1/2 ton units anyway. The TSB I had in my hand was worthless. Just something to ponder?
