TSB 18-037-04 problem?

Ok, I had the TSB performed at my last oil change so the service counter says.

Well anyways when I start my truck up now on those colder mornings, while I wait for the little light to go out to start it makes a horrible sound. sounds like a little motor vibrating on the frame without a cushioned mount. Now I know that is not it but it only does it on colder mornings.

Also it will miss for the first couple minutes and if i were an indian I could practice sending smoke signals to my buddy across town.

Now I thought the TSB was supposed to fix not make it happen.

Well anyways I looked for the little sticker that is supposed to be under the hood and have not found it, looked on the radiator shroud, ECM just about everwhere, but nothing.

Always keep my receipts and MPG record and looked back to see if they listed the TSB.

It said Performed TSB Flashed 08-19-49-92 So using those figures does anyone have a clue what they done to my truck so I am better prepared to see them at my next visit.

What little red light are you waiting for before you start it?

Looks like you got the TSB for the 3-cylinder Neon. Just kidding but those numbers don't look anything like 18-037-04.

If you can, I suggest finding another dealer, or at least a different technician with a clue.

The guy who did my flash put a sticker on or near the radiator shroud and he also crawled underneath the front end and put one under there too. I watched him do it but I haven't crawled underneath myself to see exactly what the sticker says or where he put it.

Maybe should take it to another dealer, this one really has a bad reputation.

I would put the TSB in a holding pattern until more data is accumulated. I had it done, mileage on overhead is way up, but I am still on the first tank after TSB was done. I don't know what the mileage will be for a while.

TSB re-flash

According to that number you posted (08-19-49-92), I would say the dealer did apply TSB 18-037-04 to your truck. That # appears on the last page of the actual Service Bulletin itself under a section titled "TIME ALLOWANCE". In this section, it is refered to as the "Labor Operation No.", - whatever that means.

sounds like a SRT for doing the calibration , I would take it to another Dodge and have them check if it was done.

Well after spending the weekend in the northern part of Michigan, I would have to so I am very disappointed in the performance of this truck with the flash(if it was done.) 25 degree weather and went to start in the morning and sounded like only 2 or 3 cyclinders where actually working. Smoking? Couldn't tell what smoked more the truck or the chimney from the fire place.

I find it really hard that all these people had this flash done and now all is well.

The only thing that I can say about this flash is, it put my Overhead computer close to what I am getting by hand, actual mileage really has no change and the hitting and missing gets even worse as it gets colder.

Just a tip if anyone is from around Monroe Michigan. STAY AWAY FROM MONROE DODGE!

I just hope they lied to me about the TSB and didnt do it, otherwise all I can say is the flash is a hoax.

Will post what they say when I talk to them..

Hey thanks for info. Looked it up on the TSB and sure enough it match's for that TSB and none of the other ones. Need to find out why I have no sticker and and see if they can check to see if it was really done.

on cold mornings mine makes a clicking sound like a motor vibrating. It stops as soon as the yellow light goes out, so i figured it was the engine heater.
When i do start it up, there is NO smoke after the TSB.

However, when i get on the throttle, it smokes like no other. When i got the truck it smoked a small amount, but now its just black-out-intersection type smoke. even at highway speeds if im in overdrive and i press the throttle 75% or so, it will smoke.

Overhead showing 19.9 mpg now for this tank. im loving every minute of this TSB

I noticed mine idles a little rough for the first 5 seconds or so and does smoke more than it did before. Also the over head used to be within .2 mpg when checked by hand now it shows about 1 mpg off higher than it did before but the overall mileage did go up about 1 mpg also. I don't know we'll just wait and see what happens.

Has anyone had a noise like a lifter noise around 1300 rpm's? I'm thinking maybe a bad injector?
