I live in Texas. Besides, I don't like the idea of biodiesel going through my fuel lines. I like my plain old, polluting, smoking, number 2. ;D

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!

B&B, see the thread called soy bean fuel. I'd say at least 50% of the 15,000 members on the TDICLUB run bio, but it's just starting to catch on here. I have personally run 100% biodiesel in my Jetta TDI for 25,000 miles with excellent results. Much less smoke, better cetane and lubricity, less engine wear(verified thru oil analyses), and the good thing is that every gallon you buy is one more thats not supporting the middle east and foreign oil consumption. Nice to support american farmers, help out your car, and improve emissions all at the same time. Running a B20 (20% bio) mix or less will be just fine in ANY diesel vehicle, without modifications. Once you go to higher blends, some fuel lines may need upgrading, and filters may need to be changed. The above offer I believe is for a tank of b20. Little do they know how big the cummins tanks are!!

It was a joke. If the laughing smily was working, I would have put that. I'm just a little nervous about putting biodiesel in my truck.

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!

I wonder if they would let me fill both tanks? (109 gallons) Then it would be worth the 300 mile round trip. ;D

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!

From what I've read, biodiesel sounds like the best thing since sliced bread. Is anyone running it in an '03 Cummins? If so, did you have to make any modifications to the fuel lines and can the standard fuel filter still be used? Anything that can help cut our dependence on foreign oil and help out the farmers, while making my truck run better 8) ;D 8)

One other thing, I just have to ask, does the exhaust really smell like McDonald's fries ???

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!

I would say 'the smell' is close to any fast food drive thru. I wouldn't particularly peg it to french fries. I will say when running b100, its impossible to tell the difference between my exhaust and the restaurant. With B20, which is what you'd run in the cummins, the smell is noticeable at startup, and the smoke and stench are less. However, the smell isn't as strong as with b100.
