Arrow True flow-good or bad???

I have been looking into getting an cold air intake for my 06 mega cab CTD and I was wondering if any one had any experience with the True Flow www.trueflow.com air intake?

It is a foam filter and they claim that it is better than paper and gauze filters.

I know that is their ploy to get me to buy their filter, but I haven't seen too much of them out there and I am curious to see what others have to say about it.

Thanks in advance fo your help.

The XDI, it seems to supply more air to the engine.

I had one on my hemi and I loved it. I would clean it and oil it about every 30K. Truck ran better and I never noticed any kind of dust in the intake tube. The foam filter is also the same one that I used on my MX quad and it was the same way no dust and worked flawlessly. I can not say one thing bad about them.

I have never used them on a diesel truck though. This is just my own experience.

I have the drop in replacement for past 15k miles....works well, doesnt pull the filter minder down, filters very good (no dust in intake tube).....i use foam filter's in my dirtbikes so i'm confident that it's offering good protection for my truck.

Anyone else heard anything else about these filters?

Whether it is bad or good, I am interested in hearing anything about this product.

I just don't want to buy this and cause damage to the truck.

Thanks

I had a drop in on my 99 7.3. Man that thing was oily as all get out. I think it filtered pretty well, but I noticed a little bit of oil residue after a few thousand miles. I think they flow better than stock, but I don't think it can outflow a lot of other filters.

It's not going to damage your truck at all...don't over oil or you get the residue and may cause a temp issue with the intake sensor (it's not hard to avoid this)...and you can always clean your sensor....no damage....

The majority (90+%) of full time offroad vehicles use oiled foam air filters because they filter extremely well and also flow well.....you can't go wrong with a foam oiled filter....period!

I just put the XDI on my 07 CTD. It claims to make like 25 HP and 60 TQ. I may feel a little bit in the seat but the sound the turbo makes now is priceless. It is not as loud as removing the silencer ring which is good. It does sound like the turbo spools up faster also. Hasnt been on long enough to check average mileage changes.

One thing I did notice when I was looking at intake systems, specificaly comparing the Banks, AFE, and True Flow XDI, is none of them use the same pressure differential (inches of water) on their tests. AFE used 1.5 in. of H2O, Banks used I think 10 in of H2O, and True Flow used 19 in of H2O.
Anyone else find this increadibly annoying? How are you supposed to compare products when they do this. Of course a filter is going to have a higher CFM air flow the higher the pressure you use.
