Trucks First Oil Change Today....

I did my truck's first oil change (since I have owned it) anyways.

64,640 Mile Marker,

I only put 2,500 miles on it since November, also

Anyways, here is what I used:
Amsoil 14W-40 Synthetic Heavy Diesel & Marine
Amsoil EaO-80 Oil Filter
Baldwin PF7977 Fuel Filter

Since the Amsoil was pricey, I just bought 3-5 quarts every paycheck and finally saved up enough to use it. The oil change was just routine as any normal oil change, expect alot more oil came out of the pan!

The fuel filter was a tad more hard to change, but only becuase there is not alot of room to get to and have access to the cannister's cap.

The fuel filter was all black, and I am not sure the dealership would have put in a new fuel filter when the did the oil change before I bought the truck.........so I am glad I changed it out.

I am also glad the previous owner installed a longer drain tube for the fuel cannister, so draining the fuel was very easy.

The oil filter was decently easy to change. I did use a large gallon size ziploc bag over the filter when screwing it off, so there was no mess here.

Time to save up the quarts of Amsoil gear lube for the front and rear axles....

Good choice on the oil...AME is awesome. If you think your Fuel filter is hard to get to, mine has the Arc Flow in there as well as my bypass- really shot myself in the foot when I installed those two. Makes changing fuel filters a little tougher

I just picked up 4 filters and 6 gallons of the sames products today at lunch. Half for me and half for my uncle. Can't go wrong with the Amsoil.

I hate to see you spend that kind of money and only run 2500 miles again, the benefit for a synthetic (too offset the cost) is the longer drain intervals. Maybe look at extending you intervals?

I am going to have a 1 year drain interval with the Amsoil.

The only reason I did a 2,500 mile out change is becuase the dealer used junk oil and a junk oil filter.

Good deal, depending on the miles you will put on it in the year, you may want to look at getting a few Blackstone Lab reports, etc on your oil. Give you a baseline on exactly how your motor is doing and how long you can extend your intervals for.

Just a little update for you guys.

Since I have changed the fuel filter, oil filter, and oil I have gained 0.3-0.5 MPG.

Not much, but with the price of fuel, it helps!
