Truck stays in top gear/no od

From a dead stop take off Im already on top gear with no OD. Sometimes I can stop the truck, put in park, turn off then restart and it shifts normal!!!!???
When it doesnt work Im stuCK with 1 gear and 2000rpm at or around 52 mph. Diesels already to dam expsensive so I if someone has the fix well it sure would be appreciated. BTW its a ATS trans with a Goerends TQ.

Come on!!

Come on fellas this isnt a case of "it wont run" but I still consider double fuel usage a emergency .ANY IDEAS?????

Sounds like limp mode, you get 3rd gear only. Could be Gov Trans or Solenoid too.

Mine does somthing similar but it will stick in od when you come to a stop. If i dont downshift manually it'll shake like an earthquake. But once the tranny warms up it'll stop, its in bad need of a rebuild!
