Truck starts off in 3rd gear! Transmission Problem
My truck starts off in 3rd gear. At first it had the 1st -2nd gear hunting issue then I added a new Govenor Pressure Sensor & Govenor Pressure Solenoid along with a new trans. filter and synthetic ATF fluid. The trans. shifts ok from 3rd gear forward and I do still have overdrive.
It drove ok for a few hours then it began starting off from a dead stop in 3rd gear. My DTC I pulled are P1762 & P1763 along with P1693. Basically, the Gov. Press. Sensor voltage is too high. I've searched this site and various forums for HOURS on end and have come up with three (3) solutions:
1 - Purchase and install a DTT Voltage Regular to adjust the voltage going to the Govenor Pressure Sensor to approx. 4.5 volts. This is my first choice since it is easier to install and is adjustable.
2 - Purchase and install a 1/4 volt resistor around 200 ohms (or more) to get the voltage going to the Govenor Pressure Sensor to approx. 4.5 volts
3 - Have a Dodge Dealer or shop with a DRB III scanner coder to FLASH my PCM. This has not been validated as having a high probability on fixing the problem but I have discovered that it does work in a lot of instances.
I called DTT yesterday (866-504-4002) and their phone recording states they are on vacation through next Tuesday (08/17) and looks to be open again on next Wednesday. Can the voltage regulator be purchased form another vendor or is it only available via from DTT?
Also, can someone post or email me the instructions on how it connects to the PCM. Does it just tap into the Orange wire on the middle (white) PCM connector or do you have to cut the wire to install? Is there a **** you turn to adjust the voltage?
My truck is out-of-comission until this issue is resolved so any help you guys/gals can provide would be greatly appreciated.
