Truck running hot????

Pulled today at the local fair and my truck got to the top line of normal of engine water temp. at the end of the pull. Now on the way home everytime I get on it and pyro is above 1000 Deg, the temp gauge starts to climb. Any Ideas?????? Fresh water pump, t-stat and coolant within last 8000 miles....

These hot summer days with higher ambient temps can effect your coolant temp big time. Higher fuel temp, higher air inlet temp, higher exhaust temps, and now your cooling system has to remove all that heat. Are all your coolers clean and free of debree, oil, dirt, etc up front. Radiator, air to air, oil cooler etc. Just ideas. Nice looking truck! I loved the patriot blue, it would have been my next choice.

Check your radiator between that and the IC, they get alot of crud in there due to the puke tube. Just cleaned mine out when I did the cam change, the radiator was filthy.

Any more smoke? Maybe a boost leak. Check your boots.

Second on the high ambient. It has been over 100 degrees here and my truck runs 20+ degrees higher on the highway. My radiator is not real large, high ambient really makes it marginal. I have to be careful around town and keep RPM down and the converter locked(chevy in tank tranny cooler) to keep it under 220. On cool days it will run 170-180 around town.

Or, you could have smoked a head gasket.
