Truck rolling in gear!!

When I went out to my truck this AM (I was parked on my fairly steep driveway) I started to climb around in the truck then I felt it move. It stopped then moved a little more. So I put the brakes on before she rolled into the street.. The truck was off and I left it in 2nd gear when it started to roll.. I NEVER had this truck roll on the driveway before. Could it be possible that the clutch is that bad, and its slipping with the motor off??? (it chatters when I take off in 2nd but it seems solid and doesnt slip after that) Or could it be that the engine was in the exact right position and it was tryin to turn it over??? Any help I would appreciate... Hopefully i dont need a new clutch right away, my funds are a little weak this month...

Do you use the e-brake? Mine has crept before on steep stuff but not in 1st with the e-brake. If the clutch disk slipped inside the pressure plate and flywheel I would think you would've felt like you were slipping the brakes a little, that vibration/rubbing noise. Was the truck loaded heavy?

Well there was no noises (like pressure plate against the flywheel) And the truck wasnt loaded heavy. As far as the parking brake, that hasnt been used since before winter. Still scared it might freeze up....

It probably just had the compression leak down. It's got a few miles and all vehicles will do that over time. I don't think it is anything serious but when you park it you should definitely use first or reverse. There is no way that the clutch is slipping because if that were the problem as soon as you gave it any power while driving it would slip like crazy.

Thanks fellas.. Thats kinda what I figured it lost some compression over night and once i started to move around in the truck (300LBS) it gave it enough force to roll a bit. But from now On i Think I will use first or reverse when i park. Ohh I was also wondering, when i apply my parking brake it does next to nothing, ya figure it just needs to be adjusted??

Yes your ebrake can be adjusted. I see you have an 01 so you have either disk or drum. My best guess is you have disk. You adjust them the same way you adjust drum but the slot is above the axle.
