Yesterday was the truck pull in Arpin Wisconsin.

It was held on blacktop and we were pulling 45,000 pounds. Basically they shut off a section of road that led to the park.

The sled was not self propelled, they pulled it back with a tractor each time. It had wood blocks in the front that it rode on. The axles made the weight box travel.

There were a good 75 or more trucks that showed up... Anything from Hobby 2x4s, 4x4s, old farm trucks and more. They pulled the diesel pickups last.

There were around 6 Dodges, 2 Duramax's, and 2 Powerstrokes. An 8.1L 2500 GMC also showed up and pulled in our class.
I weighed in at 7900 with some sand in the back.

One of the Duramax's has over 500HP at the wheels. He made it about half way down the 250 foot track and just started smoking the tires. There was black smoke on one side of the truck and white tire smoke on the other side

I made a full pull, I thought something had snapped when the weight box HIT the front of the sled!
The only other person that did was running a 95 regular cab Powerstroke.
He had his hitch set up in a unique way.. He had a coupler connected to his gooseneck ball in the bed, then had a hole cut in the bed and the bar ran down back towards where the normal hitch height is. Basically made a lot more weight be put on the front of the truck as well. He took first place in 3 classes (he was allowed to run in lighter weight classes. (this type of hitching isn't allowed at most places)

We ended up pulling off.. I pulled 103 feet and the Powerstroke pulled 117 feet. I took second and a $75 check
My pulls are getting consistently better:cool:
I took these places in this order: 5th ($10) 3rd ($20) 9th (intercooler boot blew off) and 2nd ($75)
I LOVE THIS TRUCK

It was a blast!

I will post some videos soon!

The hitch setup used by the stroker is similar to the ones used for semi pulls. Local guy has a version that hooks to the gooseneck ball, runs straight back and a vertical piece connects to the receiver hitch. Real handy to distribute the load and get a 26" hitch height.

Nice turbo bark at the end of the pull.

I got a question on these pulls on pavement. I'm not a puller but an old time drag racer.
It would seem to me that you could get a pair of 34 x 17wide x 16 drag slicks (used about $200) and make some rims since none are availabel for the 8 bolt. I'm sure you would have to screw them to the rims and run a bit more pressure that the drag guys do. On 3500 drw with a 6 spd (strength). Add what ever weight is permitted to the bed. Then just start out in 1st and run up to just under defuel and let it pull. Speed not being the issue that it seems on dirt. I watched the local farm tractor pulls and some of those big ol' tractors just crawl along. whataa ya think.???

At anyrate I would think drag slicks would be the norm here especially on the 4 x 4.

Nice video! Must have been a pretty built stroker to beat you. How do you like your mojave green converter? Sounds like it was really putting the power down.Did you buy it on ebay. if it holds well for you i might have to look into one. Is your tranny stock other than that and the transgo? Im also interested in what your EGT's were. The smoke looked awesome:D Keep the videos coming:D

The Stroker was hardly built.. It was the hitch setup that allowed him to do so well. It put a lot of the weight on the front axle.

So far I've been happy with the torque converter.. no slippage that I noticed yet. It came installed in the truck when I bought it.. Other than the stock rebuild and transgo, thats all that is in it.

Boost hits about 40 to 43 PSI. EGT's get to about 1800 at the end of the run IIRC
