truck is "popping" at idle

truck is "popping" at idle
Don't have a smarty anymore to read codes, but last time i read them it did say "injection pump timing falure" . My question is just sittin at a idle it pops really bad and idles really rough. when idleing yo canhear it pop outta the exaust. Then when taking off from a stop letting out the clutch under little load it 
op pop pops. Then with cruise control on it will kinda shutter real bad enough where you have to take cruise off .. But under w.o.t runs halfway normal. And sometimes will get the dead pedeal where it just idles but will not rev up and throws check engine light. I just wanna make sure all my problems are the injection pump before I spend the money ot buy one.. thanks
