Truck missing is getting worse

A friend of mine has a 1999 2500. He told me that when he pulls up to a stop light his truck will start missing. He sais that is does not do it every time but it has been getting worse. He sais that he puts it is park and it gets even worse. The other day it did it and he pressed on the brake and it stopped doing it. I think it was just a coincidence. Does anyone know what might be wrong. The truck is bone stock. Thanks for any help.

Re:Truck missing is getting worse

Sounds similar to what mine was doing as the VP44 was dying.
Bone stock as well, happened at 4,000 miles.

Anytime the RPM's got below 1K, it would stumble, sound like a miss, and almost died a couple times.
Stoplights, freeway offramps, etc.
Very random at first, but got progressively worse till it was doing it every day.

First start of day, would stumble, surge and miss, subsequent starts would be fine,
till the truck sat 8 hours or more.

Ran fine over 1,000 RPMs, not lacking in power or anything.

I'd say have him take it to the dealer and use the magic word "surge".
Should be still covered under warranty, unless he is over the miles (not sure what that limit was in 99)

Took 3 trips to the Dealer before it would do it in their presence.

Re:Truck missing is getting worse

Fuel filter, MAP sensor, lift pump.....The IAT or the CKP would be another idea. Lately I have rad a bunch on the APPS/TPS sensors going out but this dosn't sound like it. Replace the fileter and air filter and check how it runs. You may have a restriction in the fuel lines or an air leak. Maybe a boost leak also. If still struggling, pull codes from the computer wether you have any fault lights or not(sometmes the check engine light isn't always lit). Get back to us with the results from the stuff mentioned above. The worst case is the injection pump. I am not the best at this but what I have mentioned above seems to be the easiest and cheapets to check or replace at home. With the exception of the Injection pump, everything above can be fixed relatively cheap. You can do many searches for part numbers and costs form the search button at the top of this page. Sorry for rambling on..Good luck and God Bless! ;D
