truck is hot, smells like oil
when i run my truck-in sig- upto operating temperature for about 30 min and then keep my truck running, when i get out it smells like hot/warm motor oil. i have had several people ask if i am burning oil and i know i am not. it is not leaking anywhere or on anything so i know it is not dripping anywhere...any ideas?

Did you just change your oil? The first week or so when I change mine, I can smell it. What oil? I run Ro-smella... you can really smell that stuff.

no its not that problem that guy had. i changed my front diff oil less than 20k miles ago. i cannot smell it in the cab AT ALL. its only when i open the door after extended run time..30+ min. i will check into the type of oil, i have it changed at a lube station that a buddy of mine owns and he does it cheaper then wat i can get a filter and oil for, but i am due for an oil change...tomorrow afternoon actually and i think iw ill just do it myself with the valvoline listed above. i will keep u posted on if smell goes away. i also will contact my buddy to see wat brand they use...i thought it was valvoline since its a valvoline branded lube station. but maybe i am wrong.
also oil filters? the really only place that stocks them around here is the local napa not even sure of brand. i recently switched all my air/fuel/tranny filters to baldwin since i have heard nothin but ++ from them should i follow suit with the oil filters as well?

oh and no its not only when i change my oil, pretty much anytime i am running for 30+ min. i can really smell it when i do a long snow plow run, 20+ hrs without shut off, if u get out and stand by front wheels it smells like someone has put a bucket of warm oil right at ur feet its that strong. but like i said no smell inside at all even on the long snow plow runs

I wouldn't sweat it. It is what it is, the smell of hot oil.
We run Rotella in our 12v and it has a real strong putrid smell. No big deal, it's doing it's job.
I run Amsoil in my CR and I can still smell it after a fresh oil change, after 1k miles or so it's gone. The Amsoil doesn't seem to be nearly as strong as the Rotella but it definitely has a smell to it, almost sweet in a way.
My fathers 04.5 has had nothing but the Valvoline Premium Blue in it and I can't smell that at all. Weird? I dunno, but it is what it is.
