Truck is eating pyros
I'm on my 2nd thermocouple and now this one is going out. I have it mounted pre-turbo and temps don't climb above *1200...unless I want them to. Anyway, when I give it throttle (any throttle for that fact) the gauge will decrease in temp and might read right for a second and then not. Its all over the place. I checked my wires and made sure they were tight and there wasn't any grounding going on. Could the gauge be faulty making it do this? The lastest thermocouple has worked flawlessly for amlost a year and was told that these don't normally go out.

once they get hot they have an insulator inside that gets brittle if you bump it or the wire is bouncing it can crack and short out or make the gauge go bonkers make sure the wire isnt to tight and can flex with the motor .I have seen lots of bad probes ,but it could still be the gauge

Make sure when you position the probe in the exhaust runner, that it it not hitting the bottom of the runner but the tip should only extend into the middle of the exhaust stream

Are the probes gauge specific and is it something I could get at the hardware store? Seems like I paid upward of $30 for the last one.
