Truck dies when put in gear?

My 01' Dodge automatic dies when put in reverse or drive. It has a built TC and VB, TST Comp Box and 80hp Injectors.

I thought it was the torque converter going bad so I had it replaced but that didn't solve the problem. I am also getting a timing advancement malfunction code that won't clear, P1693 is the code. Not for sure if this has anything to do with it or not.

The truck will only do it after it has got hot and been drove for a while, but does it inconsistently. Otherwise it runs fine.

Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas on what it could be?

Thanks

Brandon

P1693 is a companion code... it means there is another code stored in the computer and you'll probably need a code reader to retrieve it.

Sounds to me like your convertor clutch may be applying for some reason. Possible electrical or mechanical, prob perhaps valve body associated.
