Truck Broken Into.....
So, I am sitting here is Las Vegas (on vacation) and I get a call from my father in-law. Someone smashed out the passenger side front window and ran-sacked the truck. They stole my Magellan Maestro 4250 GPS and tore apart the dash, trying to remove my Clarion CD player.
Thankfully, they did not mess with the Quad monitor and the Clarion CD player, face plate, and remote are still there.
I am sure my CDs will be missing, along with some other misc items, but I will have to wait and see what exactly it looks like Sunday night. The truck was parked in the driveway and there were not any other break-ins or thefts in my subdivision.
It happened between 2PM and 7PM, very brave scumbags.....I guess now I will have to remember to take the GPS inside, along with the faceplate for the radio.
According to Safelite's Auto Glass website, they have a mobile service that can come to my house and do the repair, for $200. I will still have to get the window re-tinted, though.
Oh well......

Unreal... I hope they catch the scumbag(s). If they smashed the glass, probably better that jacking your door all up ripping the lock off. Still, in the Middle East if you get caught stealing they cut off you hand.... You know, crime is really low there... Maybe we should have a policy like that here in the States to prevent stealing like this.

If you still have the serial number for your gps unit. My understanding is, that you can call them and report it stolen. Magellan will shut it down and when the new owner calls in for help. Magellan will ask them to send it in for repair. And you get your gps unit back. Sorry to here about the beak in.

Man every time I hear of something like this it just really pisses me off!
I hate little thugs that are too lazy or dumb or maybe both to go get a job and earn their friggin drug money!
This is the very reason I haven't installed a lift or bigger tires,I would be unable to park in the garage.
Sorry to hear about your luck, nothing like having your trip ruined with bad news. Hope ya catch 'em!

Dude, I feel you pain my tailgate, spare tire and GPS where stolen from my truck. They tried to get into the truck by both front windows but since they where safety glass they didn't break. So then the tried the left rear window and then got in.

They will not provide updates without a serial number.
Hope you get it back.

My flight was only delayed 4 hours......so I did not get in until 2 AM.
Upon further inspection in the day light, the dash was just popped out and nothing more than that. It is all intact and was able to be put back into place without any damage.
However, I have more damage than expected. The front door window, on the passenger side was broken out. It looks like the window was forced open and not really broken out. The black rubber window door seals are broken and pried back, like a screwdriver was stuck into the moldings and forced open, odd.
So, the glass place is coming today and replacing the window for $135 (found a more local, cheaper business).
I need to figure out if the glass company will be able to replace the horizontal and verticl weather stripping.........or is this something I might be able to do?

Front Passenger Window: $125.00 installed
Weatherstripping & Door Trim: $285 installed
Window Tint: $30
I did call Magellan and they cannot turn off the GPS nor can they track the GPS.
An online check (LE program) of 35 local pawn shops turned up nothing with my matching serial numbers.
Oh well, atleast the truck is repaired, but I am still finding small glass kernals all over the driveway!

Seems the same "people" (and I use that descriptive term loosely) made it down to Corpus Christi, TX last night. My truck was broken into and my Magellan Maestro 4040 was stolen. They also left my Alpine H/U, my Bully Dog PMT, and my $300 Oakley Sunglasses that were on the steering column. Strange why they would leave the stuff so blatantly out in the open yet go straight for my center console to look for my GPS. I hope their sister gets syphillis.
