So I went and got some new tires today. on the interstate.. about 3 miles down the road... the truck feels like its on ice or the rear is kicking out kind or when i move the wheel alittle left or right.. it used to pull a tiny but to the right... but now it will pull left or right and it just feels like its driving on ice and its all over the road if i do not keep on it.

Like i said it only used to pull a tad to the right. I dont see how new tires could cause such a problem.
Or do i just need an alignment bad!?

possibly bad tires?

any input would be great

For what its worth my truck is 2wd and tires are stock size.. just an A/T type tire

Hmmm,

I would check air pressure in tires. Also, some tires are desinged to roll in one direction. Check that. In my limited expierence that is all that I can think of, assuuming they are the correct tires for you truck.
Let us know what it is. We have a 2002.

I had the same problem with my last tire change.
Guys at the tire shop didn't listen when I said 55 psi in the back and instead put 80.
Couldn't wait to get that extra air out.

I put a set of BFG commercial radials on my 93, load E street tread type. took off the worn Michelin XT??? . It scared the you know what out of me first 50 mph curve I hit, it was just like being on ice as you say. As I read some tires will do this till they scuff in or?? it took about 500 miles before it felt normal again. Check the pressure though just to be sure.

Stupid question, where can I find the valve for the rear tires? i looked and pulled the lug cap off but could not find it? What should I be running in the tires? PSI wise?

I just figured.. my tires were bald in the rear... slicks.. and in the front I had new tires that the dealer put on when i got the truck. like i said it just pulled a bit to the right but I dont see how new tires could make it be worse?

You just solved your problem. The rear wheels on a dually must line up 180 out on the stems. The tire guy screwed up. Pull them off and reinstall correctly. Since they did that, also check the nuts ALL the way around for proper torque. My lugs on the 98 show 140 ft lbs.

I was refering to where the valves were like a week ago when i looked. I assumed i did not know where they are. so where should I look for them now?
On the reciept it shows them torqued at 160ft-lbs

Got them from discount tire for what its worth.

Wanted some BF goodrich all-terrain T/A's like we have on our Jeep but they were out and convinced me to get some Kelly-Springfield knock-off's

Thought perhaps the bargin got the better of me and I just got crap tires.

So i went and checked

LF- 50PSI
RF- 51PSI

Don't know where to check in the rear.. first dually

Going to go get some lunch... perhaps the problem went away... maybe the tires need to break in?

Uhm maybe I'm just tired, but I don't understand...Are you saying you can't see the stems?

They didn't by chance bend somthing while the truck was on the lift?

Maybe time to go back and say try again.

but too small of an area for me to reach in there with the pressure guage (big hands)

I tried a set of cheap off brand tires on the rear of my dually last year....didn't even get 10 miles away from the tire shop and I turned around and when back to the tire shop because the tires where so loose on curves it was dangerous....had them remove these tires and got Firestone tires put on instead this restored the steady tracking I was use too

auto parts store should have a "truck tire gage" It is long and will reach in to check the inside dulley. If you hand will fit in to remove valve cover.
