I made a previous post about my lift with a pitman arm drop on my new lift. I kept the pitman arm on from my tuff country 6 inch lift and installed a recon 3 inch lift. I just got a wheel aligment done and the truck is all over, any groove or anything pull the steering wheel back and forth constanly. Truck felt better steering wise with previous lift. Is this because i used the drop pitman arm and i should of use the stock one? Is the steering geometry off now or something? i have a solid steel industry stabilizer i was about to put on but should i first put on the stock pitman arm? I am gonna go take some pics now to show what i mean but i am mad because of all this.

Yes, put on the stock pitman arm.

If you still have a problem, then you'll want to look into a DSS, Lazarsmith SSSSS, or Sector Shaft Stabilizer from Defiant. They all do the same thing, which is support the steering box for more precise steering.

yeah i have the dss sector shaft shaft stabilizer... i am getting crazy bumpsteer on the cumminsforum this is what someone said:

Panhard drop??? If they don't match you will have bump steer like crazy, at 3 I think you need to go back to stock...

one more question when i put the stock pitman arm on and reattach the panrod the ball joint goes thru from the top correct? I cant remember but i think i had to flip the ball joint around and put it from the bottom up.

i have 35 by 12.5 didnt have this problem with the 6 inch lift

im getting some bump steer as well because im using a 3" tracbar drop bracket w/ a 2" leveling kit to center the axle.

with a 3" lift you may still need a drop pitman arm but for a smaller lift. with a 2" lift or level you keep the stock pitman arm and all is fine. i would re-install the stocker and go from there, but yes it all has to do w/ the angle of your tracbar vs. the steering link. they need to be at the same angle to avoid bumpsteer. bds makes a pitman arm and it comes w/ their 3" lift kit but i believe its the same arm they use up to the 6" lift. part # is 082403

I've got a Carli Starter System and it uses the stock pitman arm and I have an adjustable track bar. My truck tracks straight with no bump steer. My guess is that the pitman arm is screwing with you and you would most likely be better off with the stock one.

You need to drop both or neither one so the bars remain parallel. You should also pony up and buy a Thuren adjustable track bar. Combined with the DSS thingy your steering will be better than stock.

I have the Kore Recon myself, put on longer upper and lower control arms, the Thuren adjustable track bar using the stock pitman arm. I would go back to the stock pitman. I have no issues what so ever, truck tracks straight.

yeah i am tomorrow its about 6 degrees out....which control arms do you have the adjustable or non-adjustable? I was thinking about getting them but but idk if i want to cough out that much cash just for control arms

I've got DT ProFab control arms and they work great on my truck with the Carli lift.
