Truck acts like its out of fuel
Picked up a 98 QC Dually today for a decent price. Got within about 2 hours of home, pulled off the interstate to get a bite to eat.
Truck didn't want to idle, kept dying on me on the exit ramp.
I two-footed the truck to a parts house to pick up a set of batteries as I knew they were pretty weak (they are gasser-sized batteries).
I went to leave and the truck just died, but wouldn't re-start.
Fuel gauge showed 1/2 of a tank.. I figured the gauge was shot so I had someone run me to a fuel station for a few gallons.
I then dumped those in and the truck ran fine, so I drove to the station and topped the tank off.. Only took 17 gallons..
I noticed a SMALL drip off the bottom of the tank about 8 inches ahead of the filler neck, but it didn't get faster as it filled up.
I shrugged it off and drove closer to home.. Truck ran fine with no issues..
As I went to pull off an exit, the truck started the SAME crap again, didn't want to idle and I had to 2-foot it to where I parked it.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Im gonna bet a hole in the supply or return line. They are horrible about going bad. Its a cheap fix, but it sure is hard to get to them I would start with replacing them before i looked for other problems. Teddy Bear's truck had a tiny, tiny, tiny hole in the supply line, and it would give fits starting it, and trying to keep it running if you were facing uphill. The more fuel that was in the tank, the less problem the hole gave, but it should be fixed now. Just gotta get the rest of it back together

Hey Eric, Was Teddy Bear's hole in the steel line or the rubber? I've got kind of the same issue that's been driving me crazy. I've already replaced the rubber lines, and as Teddy Bear's, it isn't as bad with more fuel in the tank...
Bobcat, I think I would suspect the fuel filter if it hasn't been changed out. In fact, since it's new to you it probably wouldn't hurt to change all the filters/fluids. If the filter doesn't help then as Eric said, I would suspect the rubber lines. Good Luck!

That and check the connections on your shutoff solenoid. My linkage just loosened up the other day, but in my case the truck wouldn't turn off... after working on the solenoid for 15 minutes I got it shut off, but I hate workin on a truck while its runnin'.

His was Actually in the metal line Matt. So we cut it off, and just replaced it with rubber. It had a microscopic hole in it though. You could barely see it. It had been rubbing on something under the truck, and eventually wore the hole in it.
